Seven screens an annual news special this week
I’m not sure whether The Seven: 2024 Year in Review will include the Bruce Lehrmann Spotlight saga, nor horoscopes and comedy in news but you can check it out this Thursday night.
From personal journeys to shocking tragedies, global conflicts and all the twists and turns of the political rollercoaster, Seven’s frontline journalists share the extraordinary stories behind the events that stopped us scrolling and made us think.
Join Sunrise’s Natalie Barr, 7NEWS Spotlight’s Michael Usher, 7NEWS international correspondents David Woiwod and Ashlee Mullany, Foreign Editor Hugh Whitfeld, presenter Karina Carvalho and 7NEWS.com.au music and cultural writer Poppy Reid as they reveal insights never before made public.
Usher, who anchored 7NEWS’ rolling coverage of the US Election and the shocking Bondi Westfield attacks, said: “It has been a fragile year in many ways with a lot of uncertainty. We’ve been shocked by major events, we’ve witnessed some amazing uplifting moments, but we’ve been very worried about just how expensive life has become.
“It’s a good time to reflect on what’s happened and what’s ahead. Will the new year bring some peace and prosperity?”
Whitfeld, who kept millions of Australians up to date on multiple shocking Royal headlines this year, added: “There are so many things that you wouldn’t have had on your 2024 bingo card: not one but two members of the Royal Family being struck with cancer, a genuine assassination attempt on the next President of the United States, and a university academic becoming a viral sensation with a kangaroo hop in Paris.
“On Thursday, we’ll pull apart the past 12 months, as told by the people who see the news up close.”
