Conan O’Brien to guest in Shortland Street

Late night US host will make a guest appearance as Dr Aiden Archer in NZ soap.

Late night US host Conan O’Brien has filmed a guest role in long-running New Zealand soap Shortland Street.

The soap’s official Instagram announced, “There’s a new doctor in town. US comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien will guest star as Dr Aiden Archer in an upcoming episode of #ShortlandStreet. Has Chris Warner found his foil in this fellow Dr Love? Conan O’Brien on #ShortlandStreet | Thursday 12th December at 7pm on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+.”

O’Brien was in New Zealand in September and visited Eden Park for the World’s largest haka. He posted a series of images from the event on his Instagram where he can be seen sharing a laugh with Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi.

O’Brien said in a statement he had “a blast” in Ferndale.

“Now comes the hard part – convincing my parents it was a documentary.”

“Conan was a joy to have on the show,” producer Oliver Driver said.

Shortland Street featured Ed Sheeran as a guesin 2014. TV Tonight visited the set earlier this year to speak to actors Michael Galvin and Ben Barrington.

Shortland Street screens in Australia on 7plus.

  1. With Shorty moving to 3 days next year, is there any talk of what 7+ will do?
I’ve chosen to continue watching current episodes via VPN rather than be 110 episodes behind. If they play through the holiday season, and play 5 episodes a week next year, we could catch up!
