Darwin news producer departs Nine

David Richardson departed Darwin newsroom on Monday.

Nine News Darwin executive producer David Richardson departed on Monday after being appointed in October.

Daily Mail reports he was dismissed following a formal complaint but was not furnished with specific details and, as a result, was unable to defend himself against allegations.

Prior to the role, Richardson had been a Senior Producer for Under Investigation, but has over two decades with Seven News, largely with Today Tonight, and is a Kennedy Award winner.

His departure is the latest upheaval to impact Nine News this year including change in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth newsrooms. Former Brisbane news director Amanda Paterson has currently initiated legal proceedings over her recent dismissal.

Nine declined to comment.
