Lisa Millar is set to become the new host of Back Roads, succeeding Heather Ewart, who announced her retirement from ABC in September.
Heather Ewart still has excursions set to screen when a new season begins in its new timeslot, 8pm Thursdays from January 9.
She travels to South Australia, NSW and Queensland in the upcoming season while Millar features across NSW, WA and NT.
Millar also returns with Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies from February 2nd.
“Muster Dogs and Back Roads will keep me busy. We put Series Three (of Muster Dogs) to air in February and then get Series Four underway,” she recently told TV Tonight.
“There’s a beautiful photo book for Master Dogs that’s coming out at Christmas time, another companion book, but I’ve written a foreword for the book…. so that’ll keep me busy for a while.”
Heather Ewart will retire from ABC in March after nearly 50 years with the broadcaster.

I’m so pleased. She’s such a natural fit for the style of the show.
Lisa is a great choice as the next host of Back Roads.
