Muster Dogs is already filming for a fourth season, yet to be formally announced by ABC.
Lisa Millar was recently filming the 4 part special Muster Dogs: Where Are They Now? at the same time as the upcoming third season and doing her best to stay focussed.
But she also told TV Tonight, “The pups have been born for Series Four. So we haven’t even had Series Three go to air yet, but they’re already filming with Series Four pups, and they’ve also been doing the special. You really have to make sure you’ve got your pups in a row!”
The Ambience Entertainment series has been a big hit for ABC, and drawing international audiences. Could there be other format versions overseas?
“The show did really well internationally, on Netflix in the US and the UK, and there’s definite discussions going on about how the show travels overseas. But I am not at that level of conversation. I do know that producers from overseas are looking at Muster Dogs and going, ‘Do we take this concept and do it for ourselves in the US or the UK?'” said Millar.
“There’s definitely talks about whether they do their own versions, because you think about New Zealand as well, they’ve got loads of dogs over there. I want to see a World Championship that involves me being there on the spot!”
Muster Dogs: Where Are They Now? screens 7:30pm Sunday on ABC.
