Seven West Media Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Howard, said: “For the fourth year in a row, Seven was the most-watched broadcast and digital network in Australia. That success reflects our passionate focus on creating great content that connects with Australians and delivers results for our commercial partners. Seven has an incredible line up of the most-watched shows in Australia, from the AFL Grand Final, 7NEWS and Sunrise to Farmer Wants A Wife, Home and Away and The Voice. Many of our shows increased their audiences this year. 7plus was a star performer in 2024 and it will power ahead in 2025 thanks to the addition of cricket and AFL – both available on a free streamer for the first time – and more exclusive, first-run entertainment content through our 7plus First strategy. Millions of Australians connect with one of our broadcast, digital or publishing platforms every day, every week, every month. To make that happen, every year we create, collate and curate thousands of hours of local content. This year, the number of people we connected with grew on both broadcast and digital thanks to content such as the AFL Grand Final, Farmer Wants A Wife, My Kitchen Rules and more, and our content line up for 2025 will ensure that growth continues.”

Seven Group Managing Director, Television, Angus Ross, said: “The combination of the best news, sport and entertainment content across the screens of Seven was a hit with Australians this year, making us the most-watched network again in 2024 and for 16 of the past 18 years. Achieving audience growth across many of our key entertainment and sport programs was a great result and testament to the connection we have built with viewers. We consistently deliver audiences year-round. The biggest shows and most reliable formats in the world are on Seven and 7plus including Home and Away, Australian Idol, Farmer Wants A Wife, Dancing With The Stars, The Voice, My Kitchen Rules and The 1% Club. Next year, we will launch two brand-new local tentpole formats – Stranded On Honeymoon Island and Once In A Lifetime – plus a lot more great content across Seven and 7plus.”

“We know that we’ll continue to build on this success in 2025 bringing back our fan-favourites and popular formats and welcoming some incredibly exciting new shows. There’s Big Brother returning to its original home on 10 as well as Sam Pang’s new weekly show, also drama Playing Gracie Darling on Paramount+ as well as NCIS: Sydney season two, plus comedy series Ghosts, The List, and more. But to start the year we’ll be taking families into the jungle with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returning to its summer viewing sweet spot with Robert Irwin and Julia Morris putting our campmates through grisly tasks and trials, all for our entertainment.”

We’ve seen strong audience results in entertainment, sport and comedy this year and are incredibly excited for what’s in store for 2025.

But it all starts in the jungle with the triumphant return of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! to summer family viewing.”

  1. At least they got rid of the split coding of each entry. 5 years ago, TT ended productions in SA & WA and moved to a coding, Seven News at 6:30. I feel that split coding is quite unfair for the FTA networks as though it takes up a lot of entries in the Top 20 and would like to see other programs being entered.
But with sports broadcasts, I am in two minds of the change. E.g. the AFL. The AFL was shown on both Seven/7mate. I was quite disappointed when they got rid of the multichannel ratings system. It is quite hard to determine which city would broadcast the AFL on FTA channel e.g. normally Perth/BNE/SYD viewers get the AFL Fridays on 7mate, while in VIC/SA they get coverage on 7.

  2. A better looking table, without too many codings. Without split coding of some shows (like Seven and Nine News in previous years). At least the regular seasons of the reality shows were shown as one, rather than 5 entries for each day of the week.

Not much we can do for Grand Finals, pre and post match segments for sporting games etc.

    An improvement nonetheless.

Married at First Sight (and the Block) still doing wonders.

  3. So only one drama (from the UK), no movies or comedies amongst the top 50 shows.
This is not good news for those wanting governments to subsidise our local industry on the basis that “Australians want to watch their own stories”.

    1. Yes and no. It doesn’t include public broadcasters (or streamers obviously) and you have to look at how shows hog spots with their various ways of coding (MAFS / MAFS Dinner Party / MAFS Reunion) etc.

  4. It is always interesting to see that Seven and Nine aired 49/50 of the top 50 rated programs. They dominate the market. Both of them are also profiting primarily from their long running programs in reality and sport. Some new shows have been delayed until next year, so hopefully we see some diversification in what is being offered, although they are already doing well.
