Actor Ted Danson will be honoured with the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes in January.
“Ted Danson has entertained audiences for decades with his performances that will forever be ingrained in television history,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “His career is a testament to his remarkable talent and versatility as an actor and bears resemblance to the award’s namesake. It is an honor to present him with the 2025 Carol Burnett Award to celebrate the tremendous impact he has made and continues to make in television.”
Since 2019 past recipients of the award include Carol Burnett, Ellen DeGeneres, Norman Lear and Ryan Murphy.
Danson earned Golden Globes for the 1984 telefilm Something About Amelia and for the sitcom Cheers for 1989 and 1990 (performance by an actor in a television series — musical or comedy).
His other credits include Mr. Mayor, Fargo. CSI, CSI: Cyber, Damages and Becker. More recently, Danson can be seen in Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Good Place, and Netflix comedy series, A Man on the Inside.
Danson’s film appearances include Body Heat, Hearts Beat Loud, Three Men and a Baby, Three Men and a Little Lady, Saving Private Ryan.
Danson, along with 2025 Cecil B. DeMille Award winner, Viola Davis, will be honoured at a gala dinner on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This will mark the first time that the Globes will host a special evening dedicated to these two awards. Danson and Davis will also be recognised on the 82nd Annual Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5 (US).
Nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced on Monday, December 9, 2024 (US).

I loved Cheers and Ted was brilliant as Sam. He was also fantastic in the Good Place. I never got into Becker and I haven’t seen Bored to Death or A Man On the Inside, so perhaps i’ll check them out sometime.
I enjoyed him in the comedy series “Bored to Death” as George Christopher created by Jonathan Ames which also starred Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis.
No mention of ‘Bored To Death’?-he’s good in anything he’s in.
No Golden Globes did not mention it.
He’s bloody terrific in A Man On The Inside.
