Reporter Xander McGuire, son of Eddie McGuire, has signed with Seven News for 2025, the Herald Sun reports.
McGuire, 21, has more recently been part of Nine News, until a meeting took place between Seven News boss Anthony De Ceglie and JAM TV’s Eddie McGuire.
Seven Melbourne Director of News Chris Salter and director of network sport Chris Jones, reportedly pitched the role a few months ago.
In September Xander McGuire took home the Clinton Grybas Award for Best Emerging Talent at the AFL Media Awards. When he was 12 he even featured in Neighbours as Charlie Hoyland, the eldest son of Steph Scully (Carla Bonner).
JAM TV will also produce two new shows for “Channel Copycat” -as described by Eddie- Sunday Footy Feast and The Wash Up.
Earlier this year at a Nine footy event, host Eddie McGuire asked Xander what motivated him to get into media?
“Leigh Sales said in her book that journalism is more a trade than it is anything else,” he replied, “and the more you get up close to it and do it yourself, the better you get. Getting to Nine as opposed to watching it from afar just to watch the way that Tom Morris goes about it in the newsroom has just been an inspiration, and growth for my development.
“..and Tony Jones,” he quickly added.

Hard to shake off any nepotism accusations if the appointment is as a result of his dad meeting the head of 7 News.
Eddie Everywhere is multiplying!
You would think that 7 would be choc full of AFL reporters in Melbourne after having the rights for so long.
