Ex NRL star player Sam Thaiday and comedian Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes have joined previously-announced Matty Johnson and Reggie Bird for I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Robert Irwin and Julia Morris return for Series 11 tonight on 10.
Joining the Broncos in 2003 and retiring at the end of the 2018 season, Sam became a member of an elite group having played over 300 games for the one club. During his time with the Broncos, he was awarded the Captaincy in 2011 and went on to win the Dally M Award for Best Second Row player.
Alongside Sam, comedy icon Dave Hughes will bring the much-needed laughs to our campmates. Across stand-up, radio, podcasts, books, and TV, Hughesy has delighted audiences with his quintessentially Aussie charm and razor-sharp wit.
Begins 7pm Sunday on 10.

Is it me or is this years jungle entrants, “underwhelming” Not a dave huges fan, and most of the other people never heard of, bar the afl football player – unlikely to be a reg viewer this season.
I haven’t listened to Hughesy on the radio these days (cannot remember what radio station he is on), but his humour has gone downhill. His role in the footy show was just as bad & i never tuned in.
Sam Thaiday. I assume that he was a regular panellist on thr nrl footy show and 9’s NRL coverage.
Last I heard, Dave Hughes had been on 2DayFM breakfast here in Sydney for about 3.5 years before he (along with co-presenters Ed Kavalee & Erin Molan) was abruptly pulled off-air on August 7 last year. Don’t think he’s done much of significance between then and becoming a contestant in the jungle.
Suffice to say, I’m not a big fan of his. Screaming jokes to make them sound funnier than they actually are, seems to be a characteristic of Hughesy’s style particularly with his stand-up and presenting at the Logies.
As for Sam Thaiday, well he played his full NRL career at the Broncos and has also represented Queensland & Australia. Not aware of him ever being part of the NRL Footy Show or Nine’s NRL coverage, at least in any significant way.
So who was the “Mega Movie Star” ?
Don’t think there will be one this year, prob because they have had to cut costs for the show, and couldn’t afford paying them.
I guess you haven’t seen the ads
Dave Hughes a comedian? Give me a break.
Hughesy is the reason I am out of this.
Sam will be good value. Very nice guy
I used to like Dave Hughes in his early days. Sadly, I haven’t liked his style of humour of late.
I will still tune in tonight to see who else is going in.
It’s good they have an nrl person in there. I’m from an afl state and each year there’s always an afl person.
Hughesey could be interesting. I’d rather see him in there than so called reality or influencer stars
10 should not reveal who is going on I’m A Celebrity before the 1st show goes to air they should leave let it be a surprise like they used too
Yep, our house will be a definite tune out, just like we were when he appeared on HYBPA and The Masked Singer. Can’t be funny so he just goes for stupid.
Didn’t have these two on my celebrity bingo cards for 2025!
Hughesy’s a vegan, so it’s going to be very interesting to see how well he does in those eating trials!
Well that’s me done……cannot stand the very unfunny Dave Hughes.
Me either. *shudders*.
