It took Reggie Bird just one challenge to turn her fellow celebrities -and hosts- to tears last night on the premiere of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Bird, who is legally blind, and explained she only has 9% vision, was challenged to face her fear of heights inching out onto a skyhigh platform and jumping to catch a dangling star, before plummeting in a harness to the depths below.
This is how you conquer your fears! ❤️

It was a quick reminder of why she is already the favourite to win the 10 series. Unlike the other reality influencers and limelight stars, Reggie represents the audience.
Most of the other celebs might as well roll up their kit and head for the airport now, without having to endure bulls testicles or laying down in the Viper Room.
Joining her this year are comedians Dave Hughes, Geraldine Hickey, former Sale of the Century co-host Nicky Buckley, sports stars Shaynna Jack, Sam Thaiday, Zach Tuohy and a bunch of former reality faces. And a British TikTokker with millions of followers, for some reason. Still, as last year reminded us lesser-known participants Skye Wheatley and Callum Hole can go all the way.
There were two opening challenges last night: “over the dam” and “under the dam” providing scenic daredevil and scary critter moments. The opening with hosts Julia Morris and Robert Irwin as faux-campmates was inspired… but why so many mentions of RayGun? It was as if the show kept apologising for heer absence…

Love Geraldine Hickey, has been a mainstay of my Mornings as one of the hosts on Triple R Melbourne’s Breakfasters for years, and yep can spin a yarn like no other, so hope that comes across in this show for the people who watch.
Well, I am as old as dirt…but I know nearly all from TVT posts…even if I do not watch the shows…and I live with my granddaughter…so informed about the TikTok person….having said that…I will only peek in occasionally…not a reality person.
Love Geraldine!! Anne Edmonds put on Instagram that Geraldine texted her a few days ago to ask if Anne was going in the jungle, just to throw her off the trail!! Geraldine has a great energy and like others have said, I hope she goes far – I’d like her to win but agree that Reggie probably has it in the bag!
I watched the show last night, but will bow out from here. It’s not because I didn’t like someone, I just struggle to stick with this show, it’s not for me, but I do find it interesting to see who the “celebrities” are each year so I generally watch the first episode. There seems to be a set menu in place each season. I’ve noticed the following generally seem to be present: AFL player, comedian, gay man, influencer and reality contestant/s. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing, but it’s very predictable. Good to see an NRL person and I’m an AFL fan.
As others have said, Reggie for the win. I was impressed with Geraldine and I hope she goes far. Nicky Buckley was a nice surprise too.
My definition of a celebrity ….is a “condition” people suffer to exploit themselves for fame and fortune and that’s down to people and the mass media following them.
I haven’t heard of Nicky Buckley for a very long time, but as I looked through the YT videos, she presented Sale of the Century, with Glenn Ridge hosting the show. But since Nicky left SOTC in late 1999, she was replaced by Karina Brown. I still looked thorugh some old Youtube videos of her presenting the game show.
Shayna Jack — she may have won two gold medals in Paris 2024 swimming. I didn’t watch the 4x200m swimming relay, but I assume she swam with Titmus, McKeon and Meg Harris.
Sam thaiday was a QLD Maroon player, and I assume he may have appeared on the NRL Footy SHow as a regular panellist.
Possibly the least amount of celebs I knew going in this year, but that’s on my, not their status.
Is the matinee idol still going into the jungle? Or did I miss something?
I don’t remember that clue, but it may have been aligned to romantic leading man?
“British TikTokker with millions of followers, for some reason”
His non stop “encouragements” (to people he has only just met) became grating during his challenge, followed by his phony overacting when it came to his turn.
Not my idea of someone I would consider having as a virtual friend.
Very interesting cast I must say! Surprised with a few of the names that weren’t revealed before the show aired!
I have no idea on who Max or Samantha are (considering I’m not on TikTok & don’t watch MAFS), so I’m interested to see how they go in the show and also learn a little more about them at the same time
Not a huge fan of Geraldine Hickey or Zach Touhy (salty Carlton supporter speaking here), but we’ll see if they both grow on me throughout the season!
As for the Hero that’s going in tonight – no question it’s Harrison from Bondi Rescue. I can recognize that accent anywhere!
Bondi Rescue is the chatter….
So far only know about five of them but still loved it.
Reggie for the win!! Close second goes to Geraldine.
The ones I know are Reggie, Geraldine, Dave, Nicky and I have heard of Shayna.
I wonder if there is any real conception at TEN just how much Dave Hughes is disliked. People will do anything to avoid his appearances elsewhere and he is now on another show to drag it down. Does Rove McManus or someone have so much power that he keeps getting gigs.
The celebrity list needed at least a few prominent names – being on Love Island is not a calling card nor is being a UK tik tok figure. It just needs a bit more profile in its casting and “““““““some commitment to people the audience may be aware of.
” how much Dave Hughes is disliked”
Indeed. I usually just watch the first ep of ‘Celeb’ to check out the so called Celebs. Cannot stand Hughies’ voice – so did not even last a full ep this time.
The only 2 I have heard of are Dave Hughes and Nicky Buckley (I haven’t heard of her for years and had forgotten about her since she left Sale Of The Century)
I’m with you Norman.
Love Geraldine.
Very funny and likeable.
Hope she wins!
I usually am not a fan of Dave Hughes but I thought the first half hour or so with Dave and Shayna was really funny. Like most people I have never heard of the Tik Tok guy but obviously he is there for the young ones who know him. My favourites are Sam and Nikki (she looks wonderful). I think they all look good value!
David, 11 “celebrities” actually entered the jungle last night – so if you believe it was only 10, which one of them isn’t the celebrity?
I indicated 10 plus 1 they all had to beat.
I think the award winning actress could be Sigrid Thornton in the promos they showed horses galloping & she was in The man from Snowy River.
Yes, that makes complete sense. The promos mentioned someone being “more at home on a river” (possibly a reference to “All The Rivers Run”, from the mid-80s).
As tipped last year.
Must be showing my age but I honestly, in all seriousness, have never heard of half of these people.
Me too!
It has nothing to do with age ,,,,,,,
