Six weeks ago comedian Michael Hing posted on Instagram that his diary for 2025 was looking very busy with his biggest comedy tour, and a growing new family, meaning there would be changes to his TV role this year.
“….I’m embarking on the biggest tour I’ve ever done: Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Gold Coast Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney (not exactly a big effort) and Newcastle,” he said.
“I should mention as well, with the size of the tour, and my ongoing commitment to not being entirely absent from the baby’s life, I’m going to take a step back from being on The Project next year. So, if you’re someone who enjoyed me on that show, please come see me live!”
This week 10 confirmed The Project would feature three presenters on Friday instead of four, however while that’s now regular, it isn’t for the first time, either.
A Network 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight, “In 2025, The Project is doing Fridays differently! From late February, join Rove McManus, Georgie Tunny and Susie Youssef at The Project desk every Friday night, as the working week wraps up and the weekend fun begins. Expect the same dose of wit, charm and newsy goodness, but with a little more space for those unexpected, spontaneous moments that only a Friday night can bring. It’s the perfect end to the week.”

I know he had a hand in the show’s creation, but Rove is not a good fit for The Project. He isn’t good at sharing, he fawns over celebrities in an humiliating way and even following serious stories he’s bursting to crack out his cringe 90s material.
Rove will do the show as long as he wants he is the boss
Hingers has done alright for himself since those days long ago briefly launching Good Game Back Pocket.
I normally do like The projects mix of News and laughter but this trio just don’t do it for me. Fridays will now be just a mucking around sort of show.
