Rumour: Amanda Laing for Nine?

Speculation of a new broadcast role for former Foxtel exec.

Former Foxtel Group Chief Commercial & Content Officer and Binge Managing Director Amanda Laing is rumoured to be returning to Nine.

Nine-owned Australian Financial Review speculates she could be appointed to a new role with responsibility for television and radio divisions, and Stan streaming platform. The role could oversee Nine’s director of television Michael Healy, managing director of radio Tom Malone and Stan CEO, Martin Kugeler.

Laing was previously Managing Director of Nine until 2017 prior to becoming Chief Commercial Officer, Foxtel Group.

She resigned from Foxtel in April, departed in September and is understood to be in a non-compete period. Much has been speculated about her next move, especially after a year of executive movements and the impending arrival of MAX.

If she is appointed to the new role, it would pave the way for Acting CEO Matt Stanton to remain chief executive.

Nine declined to comment.
