Updated: So far 24 lives have been lost in the inferno engulfing Los Angeles and its surrounds including Australian Rory Callum Sykes who hosted Britain’s Kiddy Kapers and later performed Singing in the Rain at the Sydney Opera House during a brief career as a child actor.
Famed locations seen in film and television have also been damaged or razed.
An $83m ($A134m) 18 bedroom mansion owned by Luminar Technologies boss Austin Russell, used in Succession, has been left a “smouldering shell,” according to reports.
The futuristic property featured in S4 of the HBO hit used by the Roy siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin), Shiv (Sarah Snook) as they plot their next move against their father played by Brian Cox. Before and After photos are here.
An Altadena mansion seen on comedy series Hacks has also reportedly burned.
According to reports, the 1915 Spanish Colonial Revival mansion has burnt down in the Eaton fire, with only its facade still standing.
The house was introduced in Season 2 as Deborah Vance’s (Jean Smart) “side mansion” in LA.
There isalso major concern for the nearby Crank house where Matilda, Scream 2, and Catch Me If You Can were filmed.
Photos of the Andrew McNally House, from Entourage and many other productions, burning down have been posted online. Meanwhile, actor Will Rogers’ historic ranch house was among the thousands of structures destroyed by the Palisades fire.
There has been “significant damage” to Palisades Charter High School used in Carrie, Freaky Friday, Crazy / Beautiful, Havoc, Teen Wolf and American Vandal.
The Palisades Fire also destroyed the Topanga Ranch Motel, a 30-room, bungalow-style motel built by William Randolph Hearst in 1929 and seen in Mannix, Remington Steele, Blue City and Leather Jackets.
Charles S. Farnsworth Park was damaged in the Eaton Fire. The park can be seen in American Pie 2 as the location of the band camp concert and has been used in the Apple TV+ series Shrinking.
The death toll is expected to rise.
