Actor Nicholas Eadie, best known for Cop Shop, The Henderson Kids and Vietnam has died aged 66.

No cause of death has yet been given. The Daily Mail reports his body was found at his Sydney home.

Eadie sustained a long career across stage and screen and was much-loved by his fellow performers.

He graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1980 landing the role of the handsome Cons. Sam Phillips on Cop Shop alongside Gil Tucker, Terry Norris for 138 episodes.

His next big TV role came as the young uncle to orphaned kids Nadine Garner and Paul Smith in the popular Henderson Kids drama, including with a young Kylie Minogue, Ben Mendelsohn and Alex Papps.

Nadine Garner, last year told TV Tonight, “Nicholas was divine back then. He was a young man, a bit of a star I think, but, I don’t think he ever thought that Henderson Kids was a vehicle for him. He was playing an uncle in a kid’s show. He was there with good grace, but I don’t think he was deeply invested in the project or anything. He was sweet and funny and kind but his head was elsewhere for sure. But we were very, very fond of each other and and we worked together years later in Taming of the Shrew. He played Petruchio to my Kate back in the late ’90s.”

Other TV credits included Vietnam, The Lancaster-Miller Affair, Frontier, Australians, Tracks of Glory, Embassy, A Country Practice, GP, Medivac, The Lost World, Halifax fp, Fragments of War: The Story of Damien Parer, Beastmaster, The Society Murders and Underbelly Files: The Man Who Got Away.

He also forged an ongoing cinema career across Undercover, Jenny Kissed Me, The Man from Snowy River II, Celia, Blood Oath, Dad and Dave: On Our Selection and Jewboy.

On stage he appeared frequently from 1979 including in the original production of Holding the Man in 2006, plus productions of Two Weeks with the Queen, Two Brothers, Don’s Party, True West, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, performing with Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Griffin Theatre, Stables Theatre, Phillip Street Theatre, St Martin’s Theatre, and Australian Shakespeare Company in the Royal Botanical Gardens.
