Nine network won Thursday with 30.2% then Seven 24.8%, 10 19.0%, ABC 17.7% and SBS 8.3%.

Nine News was best for Nine at 837,000 / 828,000. A Current Affair was 619,000 then Hot Seat (386,000 / 237,000). Murder for Hire was 129,000.

Seven News was #1 at 864,000 / 858,000. An extended Home & Away was 446,000 then The Chase (431,000 / 258,000). Busted in Bangkok was 120,000.

Married at First Sight still won the slot at 891,000 then Hard Quiz 584,000. Meanwhile 7:30 drew 536,000 while Ambulance: Code Red (255,000) and Britain’s Historic Towns (235,000) trailed.

Later The Weekly with Charlie Pickering drew 474,000 then The Equalizer (352,000) and Aftertaste (290,000).

Nine network won Wednesday with 33.1% then Seven 21.8%, 10 19.8%, ABC 16.6% and SBS 8.8%.

The match wrapped up a complex event that was challenged by COVID-19 restrictions, quarantine, crowd limits or bans, and a delayed season. But the Men’s Final was also down on 2020’s 1.52m when it screened against an I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here finale and a My Kitchen Rules season premiere.

The Amazing Race Australia drew 523,000 ahead of Holey Moley (498,000) and Grand Designs: NZ (438,000).

Later Harrow drew 419,000 then Silent Witness (256,000) and Movie: John Wick: Chapter 2 (236,000).

Nine network easily won with a 35.7% share then Seven 23.0%, 10 18.0%, ABC 15.8% and SBS 7.4%.

Nine News drew 792,000 viewers for Nine.

Overall the 2 week tournament is also down on its usual January dates, but against stronger competition.

After two nights of lukewarm numbers, Nine has its first big win in the Australian Open tennis ratings.

The win is down to two factors: a compelling Nick Kyrgios / Ugo Umbert  match and some clever recoding by Nine into shorter tennis portions -the latter pushes the averages higher.

Nine coded the tennis into 4 segments last night, which is not dissimilar to how Seven used to structure its AO: 7pm  pre match / 7:15pm  night / 9pm night session 2 / 10:30pm late.

But all’s fair in love, war and TV ratings, last night the Australian Open drew up to 704,000 viewers for Session 2. The night session was 625,000.

Hard Quiz topped entertainment shows at 598,000 eclipsing 7:30 (495,000), Ambulance: Code Red (366,000), Jamie’s Easy Meals for Every Day (268,000 / 217,000) and Britain’s Most Historic Towns (239,000).

Later The Weekly with Charlie Pickering led entertainment (507,000) then Aftertaste (352,000), The Bay (266,000 / 229,000) and QI (233,000).

The Trump Show: Downfall -unusually from 8:10pm- was 512,000, while the return of Harrow pulled 478,000 then Movie: Captain America: The Winter Soldier on 301,000.

Nine won the night at 29.1% then Seven 27.8%,  10 19.3%, ABC 16.5% and SBS 7.2%.

Nine News was best for Nine on 901,000. A late news edition was 309,000.

Seven News was still #1 at 914,000.

That bettered 7:30 (610,000), Outback Ringer (382,000), RBT (361,000), Ambulance Australia (270,000) and Great British Railway Journeys (215,000).

Later Australian Crime Stories was 344,000 then Wayne (333,000), NCIS (280,000 / 234,000), SAS: UK (250,000) and Addicted Australia (180,000).

Seven network won Tuesday with 28.5% then Nine 26.3%, ABC & 10 tied on 18.0% with SBS at 9.2%.

Seven News was #1 at 967,000 / 956,000 for Seven. Home & Away was 592,000 and The Chase (479,000 / 290,000). The World’s Most Shocking Emergency Calls was 109,000.

Nine News was best for Nine at 837,000 / 822,000. A Current Affair was 635,000 then Hot Seat (441,000 / 269,000) and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (174,000).

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? wrapped its year on 661,000 and topped the demos then Media Watch (379,000),  The Rookie (346,000 / 270,000), In The Face Of Terror (334,000) and Movie: Spectre (281,000).

Elsewhere Sunrise was well ahead of the competition.

Seven network won Monday with 27.8% then Nine 25.6%, 10 20.3%, ABC 18.1% and SBS 8.2%.

It easily gazumped Beat the Chasers (583,000), Restoration Australia (485,000) and The Graham Norton Show (269,000).

In preliminary figures 60 Minutes drew 841,000 then Roadkill (375,000), Crime Investigation Australia (244,000), FBI: Most Wanted (214,000) and Pompeii: After The Eruption (203,000).

Nine network easily won Sunday at 41.4% then Seven 23.2%, ABC 14.5%, 10 13.3% and SBS 7.6%.

Nine News won its slot at 979,000 with a late edition on 436,000 in preliminary figures.

In Sydney there was a huge audience of 769,000 followed by Brissy at 609,000. The figures are down on 2019’s Game III of 2.00m -but given the COVID context not by a lot.

ABC was the only serious alternative last night.

Origin was also more than triple the competition of Hard Quiz (586,000), 7:30 (571,000), Inside the Queen Mary (290,000) and Jamie’s Quick & Easy Food (267,000 / 212,000).

Later Gruen drew 591,000 then Reputation Rehab (328,000), Britain’s Got Talent (185,000), By Royal Appointment: Serving The Queen (161,000) and Bull (141,000).

But the audience was again down on 2019’s Game II of 1.96m viewers, in the context of 2020’s curveball year.

ABC was the only network to offer any serious alternative last night.

7:30 drew 643,000 then Hard Quiz (610,000), Jamie’s Quick & Easy Foods (272,000 / 228,000), My Houseful Of Animals (236,000) and Walking Britain’s Roman Roads (180,000).

It was history-in-the-making yesterday.

Live coverage of Joe Biden’s victory speech on ABC News drew 338,000 viewers in the early afternoon, in the aptly titled Close of Business slot. That compares with 125,000 on Seven, 78,000 on Nine, albeit for averages of varying timeslot length.

By evening the interest was all but over. A swiftly scheduled special on Seven only managed 251,000 in the key 8:30pm slot -lower than Weekend Sunrise.

Meanwhile The Block was Sunday’s #1 averaging 1.01m, its best this season, rising to 1.06m for the Room Winner.

That was well ahead of Beat the Chasers (630,000), Junior MasterChef (526,000) and Restoration Australia (522,000).

Later 60 Minutes drew 649,000 eclipsing ABC’s Roadkill (380,000).

Nine network won Sunday with 32.3% then Seven 23.7%, 10 18.6%, ABC 18.0% and SBS 7.4%.

Nine News was 931,000 with a late edition at 295,000.

That was ahead of 7:30 (667,000) and The Bachelorette 500,000 (573,000 for the final decision, topping younger demos) easily the show’s lowest finale numbers. Scottish Vets Down Under (325,000) followed.

Later Paramedics was 354,000 then Joanna Lumley’s Silk Adventure (255,000) and Britain’s Got Talent (205,000).

Of the US Presidential Election live coverage ABC was highest yesterday at 384,000 (this appears to be The Drum timeslot). Seven’s best figure was 176,000 then Nine (151,000), 10 (46,000) and SBS (38,000).

ABC News channel drew a 7.8% primetime share, helping ABC to second network for Wednesday.

Later 60 Minutes drew 649,000 then Roadkill (403,000), FBI (276,000) and Crime Investigation Australia (262,000).

Nine network won Sunday with 34.6% then Seven 22.2%, 10 18.5%, ABC 16.9% and SBS 7.8%.

Nine News won its slot at 926,000 for Nine with a late edition at 293,000.

Seven managed to pip Nine for a win last night after their multichannels lifted them from behind Nine in primary channel share.

The season finale of Gogglebox was the top entertainment drawcard at 700,000 viewers and topped the demos. It proved to be a most unusual year for the show as it reflected how we were living with the virus and saw some participants drop out of direct filming.

A rare Thursday edition of The Block won its slot at 679,000 then 7:30 (586,000),The Bachelorette (441,000) and Scottish Vets Down Under (359,000).

Meanwhile Paramedics was 342,000 then Joanna Lumley’s Silk Road Adventure (250,000) Britain’s Got Talent (201,000) and Secrets Of The Tower Of London (150,000).

Nine led in primary channel share but Seven network won Thursday with 27.6% then Nine 27.2%, 10 21.5%, ABC 15.8% and SBS 7.8%.

Seven News was #1 at 994,000 / 982,000. An extended Home & Away averaged 467,000 then The Chase (509,000 / 314,000). The Amazing Race returned to 127,000.

Meanwhile The Block was the top entertainment show at 981,000 with 975,000 for the Room Winner and best in demos.

It defeated SAS Australia (770,000), 7:30 (704,000), Australian Story (616,000) and Junior MasterChef (447,000) which was a season low.

The NRL Grand Final drew 2.1m metro viewers as Melbourne Storm defeated Penrith Panthers.

In Sydney there were 848,000 viewers followed by Melbourne (608,000) and Brisbane (492,000).

Including regional viewers the number climbed to 2.97m.

The numbers were also higher than 2019’s 1.86m metro/ 2.65m (with regional).

Nine network won the night with a massive 49.3% share -Nine’s biggest all year- then Seven 20.0%, ABC 13.5%, 10 10.9% and SBS.

Nine News also won its slot at 1.11m viewers, with a late edition at 526,000.

Seven News drew 1.08m viewers. Billion Dollar Cruises at Sea was 454,000 and movie: A Star is Born pulled 284,000.

ABC News was 636,000 but Restoration Australia was the top entertainment show of the night at 494,000 viewers. Grantchester (431,000), Doc Martin (240,000) and Australia Remastered (190,000) followed.

Hard Quiz also led in early evening at 756,000 then The Block (744,000), 7:30 (653,000), The Bachelorette (468,000) and Highway Patrol (387,000 / 372,000).

Even a repeat of Utopia did well at 535,000, ahead of Australian Crime Stories (384,000), Australia Come Fly with Me (230,000), movie:  Man of Steel (218,000) and The Masked Singer USA (187,000).

There was also a tie between game shows at 5:30pm.

The bad news: at 628,000 it was the lowest season launch so far, just below Ali Oetjen’s 631,000. But the good news is it still topped the demos.

The Block won in total people at 744,000 then Hard Quiz (643,000), The Bachelorette (628,000), 7:30 (561,000) and Highway Patrol (435,000 / 410,000).

Later Mad as Hell wrapped its season with 542,000 ahead of Australian Crime Stories (358,000), movie: Jack Reacher (357,000) and Utopia (354,000).

Nine network just won Wednesday with 26.8% ahead of Seven 26.4% then 10 21.4%, ABC 17.5% and SBS 7.9%.

Nine News (898,000 / 826,000) was best for Nine. ACA won its slot at 708,000 then Hot Seat (440,000 / 254,000). Footy Classified was  127,000 in 3 cities with Murder Calls at 110,000 in two cities.

That easily bettered Budget 2020: Treasurer’s Speech (518,000), Prince William: A Planet For Us All (311,000), America’s Got Talent (283,000) and Every Family Has a Secret (277,000).

Later the Halifax: Retribution finale finished at 577,000 well ahead of Budget 2020: ABC News Special (388,000), Budget 2020: Reaction & Analysis (254,000), and Ambulance Australia (211,000).

Nine network won Tuesday with 32.2% then Seven 24.5%, ABC 17.3%, 10 17.0% and SBS 9.0%.

That left Seven struggling with America’s Got Talent (277,000 / 188,000), 10’s #Trump: How Social Media Changed the Presidency (273,000) and How the Victorians Built Britain (214,000) on SBS.

Later 10 managed to gain back some ground thanks to Have You Been Paying Attention? (599,000) just ahead of Four Corners (578,000) then Media Watch (481,000) and RBT (396,000).

Nine network won Monday with 30.0% then Seven 24.1%, 10 19.0%, ABC 18.9% and SBS 7.9%.

The TV programmer’s annual enemy, Daylight Saving is now in play for the rest of the year and on Sunday it combined with a long weekend in several states.

But Nine drew huge numbers, thanks in part to an NRL lead into primetime.

The Block pulled 981,000 viewers, rising to 1.06m for the Room Winner.

That was more than double (and in some cases quadruple) The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty (428,000), The Test (346,000), Ancient Superstructures (245,000) and The Graham Norton Show (202,000).

Later 60 Minutes also won at 609,000 then Grantchester (440,000), Crime Investigation Australia (191,000) and FBI (171,000 / 140,000).

Nine network easily won Sunday with a big 36.7% share then Seven 26.8%, ABC 16.9%, 10 14.2% and SBS 8.4%.

Nine News won its slot at 955,000. A late edition was 292,000.

Seven News (874,000) was best for Seven.

AFL Finals are here and have delivered bumper numbers for Seven.

918,000 viewers tuned in last night, nearly 500,000 of them in Melbourne alone -making it the second-biggest Thursday night game in history.

AFL helped delivered a whopping 38.5% share to Seven and put Seven back in the hunt for the week overall.

Everywhere else things were very quiet…

The Chase was the top entertainment show at 526,000 / 306,000.

7:30 (466,000) eclipsed RBT (437,000), the finale for The Heights (230,000), The Masked Singer USA (225,000) and Queen Victoria’s Slum (179,000).

With a low lead-in even Gogglebox was down at just 475,000 then Paramedics (301,000) and Escape from the City (236,000).

Seven network easily won Thursday with 38.5% then Nine 23.6%, 10 15.9%, ABC 13.6% and SBS 8.4%.

ABC News topped multichannels at 215,000 viewers yesterday morning, ahead of those watching on Nine (173,000), Seven (139,000) and SBS (83,000).

But it also helped deliver record numbers to Planet America in primetime at 430,000, winning its 9:30 slot.

Elsewhere The Block won its slot at 828,000 viewers ahead of Hard Quiz (705,000), 7:30 (654,000), Highway Patrol (449,000 / 443,000), The Masked Singer USA at just 285,000.

Mad as Hell led its slot at (585,000), then Utopia (356,000), The Front Bar (342,000), and Australian Crime Stories (328,000).

On a day that the government overhauls the Drama quotas, Halifax: Retribution again draws another crowd of around half a million in an 8:40 slot. It was only pipped by ABC’s Back in Time for Dinner.

In contrast to the recent struggle for Between Two Worlds, Halifax has enjoyed a stable audience across its run (although Home & Away was still the top rating drama for the night).

Reality TV still tops entertainment, if favoured by an earlier and consistent slot. The Block led on that front at 809,000, ahead of Anh’s Brush with Fame (716,000), 7:30 (615,000), Ambulance Australia (287,000), Every Family Has a Secret (287,000) and America’s Got Talent (232,000 / 186,000) last for Seven.

Back in Time for Dinner led its slot at 591,000 then Halifax: Retribution (496,000), Body Hack (255,000) and Insight (166,000).

A 12:30pm press conference saw a previously-scheduled Landline pushed into the Top 10 at 480,000 (292,000 of them in Melbourne) and Close of Business on ABC News topped multichannels at 272,000 (222,000 in Melbourne). Last night was also the final curfew.

Meanwhile The Block was the top entertainment drawcard at 928,000 rising to 997,000 for the Room Winner.

That defeated All New Monty: Guys & Gals drew 717,000 (rising to 800,000 for the Performance), then The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty (433,000 from 7:40pm) and Lindy Chamberlain: The True Story (365,000 from 7:30pm).

Later 60 Minutes (520,000) led its slot then Grantchester (440,000) and 7News Spotlight: Surviving the Crash (315,000).

But it did win its slot, defeating 7:30 (516,000), The World’s Most Scenic Railways (390,000) and The Heights (213,000). RBT was 169,000 in 2 cities.

Gogglebox led later at 654,000 well ahead of Escape from the City (296,000), The Front Bar (290,000) and Secrets of the Tower of London (193,000).

Thursday Night NRL was 314,000 / 29,000 across the Nine network.

All New Monty: Guys & Gals drew 758,000, rising to 805,000 for a performance. The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty drew 548,000 from 7:40pm. Family Feud trailed at a dire 230,000 and fell outside the Top 20.

Later 60 Minutes was 717,000 then Grantchester (517,000), then Crime Investigation Australia: Most Infamous (395,000).

Nine network won Sunday with 32.4% then Seven 29.5%, ABC 16.7%, 10 13.3% and SBS 8.1%.

As Wednesdays go, it was a pretty straightforward evening last night, won by Nine, but with ABC shows leading a number of slots.

The Block led in entertainment at 742,000.

That outranked Hard Quiz (696,000), The Bachelor (617,000), 7:30 (616,000) and Highway Patrol (387,000 / 377,000).

Later Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell led with 598,000, Australian Crime Stories (492,000), Utopia (354,000).

Elsewhere Sunrise held its lead while Today dipped, just ahead of News Breakfast.

Nine network won Wednesday with 27.6% then Seven 26.4%, ABC 18.0%, 10 17.8% and SBS 10.2%.

Nine News was 986,000 / 977,000 for Nine. A Current Affair won its slot at 768,000 and Hot Seat (453,000 / 279,000). Murder Calls pulled 260,000.

Seven News was #1 at 1.04m / 977,000 for Seven. The Chase (597,000 / 358,000) and Home and Away (565,000) followed. Movie: Kingsman: The Golden Circle drew 297,000.

ABC News drew 759,000. Planet America led its slot (320,000) then The Drum (188,000) for ABC.

The Project pulled 505,000 / 325,000 for 10. 10 News First was 316,000 / 233,000 then Bull (239,000 / 176,000).

On SBS both Hillary and Arabia with Levison Wood drew a level 211,000. SBS World News was 178,000, then Tour de France (169,000) and Mastermind managed 87,000.

7TWO’s The Coroner led multichannels at 177,000.

Later Further Back in Time for Dinner led at 537,000 just ahead of Halifax: Retribution (508,000).

Nine network won Tuesday with 30.2% then Seven 25.1%, ABC 17.8%, 10 16.1% and SBS 10.8%.

Nine News (1.03m / 985,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair (719,000) and Hot Seat (493,000 / 303,0000. Bluff City Law was 200,000.

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? was solid with 767,000 then Four Corners (473,000), Media Watch (467,000), Celebrity IOU (358,000) and 9-1-1: Lone Star (247,000 / 230,000).

Nine network won Monday with 26.4% then 10 24.8%, Seven 24.2%, ABC 17.1% and SBS 7.6%.

Nine News was best for Nine at 1.03m / 1.03m. A Current Affair (733,000) and Hot Seat (520,000 / 316,000) and a late Nine News edition followed at 236,000.

Two new additions to the Sunday schedule performed well last night: Seven’s All-New Monty and ABC’s Freeman special…. but it came at the expense of Family Feud.

The Block won its slot at 960,000, rising to 991,000 for the Room Winner.

It outranked The All New Monty: Guys & Gals (781,000) and Freeman (708,000). But Family Feud sank again to 210,000 barely ahead of SBS Lost Worlds and Hidden Treasures (187,000) -that’s despite Melbourne in lockdown from 8pm.

Later 60 Minutes (586,000) just eclipsed Midsomer Murders (582,000) then Crime Investigation Australia: Most Infamous (398,000).

Nine network won Sunday with 30.3% then Seven 28.3%, ABC 19.8%, 10 12.7% and SBS 8.9%.

Nine News (1.01m) was best for Nine. A late new edition drew 266,000.

The Block 753,000 won its slot and led the demos ahead of Anh’s Brush with Fame (611,000), 7:30 / The Masked Singer: Unmasked (both 592,000), Plate of Origin (382,000) and Great Asian Railway Journeys (248,000).

Later Further Back in Time for Dinner won its slot at 535,000 then Halifax: Retribution (505,000) and Ambulance Australia (382,000).

Nine network won Tuesday 29.6% then Seven 25.1%, 10 18.6%, ABC 17.4% and SBS 9.3%.

Nine News (1.01m / 996,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair won its slot at 734,000 then Hot Seat (546,000 / 350,000) followed. Bluff City Law drew 196,000.

Nine and 10 reality shows went to war again last night with wafer thin results -but that only left Seven’s dish sinking even lower.

The Block (789,000) barely pipped The Masked Singer (775,000) but the latter did rise to 918,000 for the reveal of Simon Pryce as Puppet, and topped the demos.

They edged out 7:30 (658,000), Australian Story (600,000) and Plate of Origin (393,000).

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? was a winner at 764,000, ahead of Four Corners (510,000), Media Watch (494,000) and Celebrity IOU (337,000).

But there was also another extremely close battle on Monday with Sunrise on 250,000 narrowly ahead of Today‘s 242,000 -the closest margin since October 2018. News Breakfast drew 134,000 / 55,000.

There were even close results in 5pm game shows.

10’s primary channel pushed Seven’s into third place but Nine network won Monday with 27.0% then Seven 24.7%, 10 22.5%, ABC 17.7% and SBS 8.1%.

Nine News drew 1.06m / 1.01m for Nine then A Current Affair (729,000) and Hot Seat 555,000 / 335,000. Nine News late edition was 246,000.

Seven News was #1 at 1.1m / 1.05m for Seven then The Chase 566,000 / 328,000 and Home & Away (577,000). 9-1-1: Lone Star pulled 250,000 and Chicago Fire was 189,000.

The Project drew 565,000 / 344,000 for 10. 10 News First was 369,000 / 250,000 and Just for Laughs: Uncut was 290,000.

Never mind a room reveal, Melburnians were glued to their screens for another reveal yesterday with 311,000 watching Close of Business on ABC News at midday -in reality that was Premier Daniel Andrews’ roadmap for the state.

With just an hour’s notice, that figure was only bettered locally by 6pm News and The Block.

The Block was the top entertainment drawcard at 924,000, rising to 985,000 for the Room Winner.

That was ahead of Shetland (620,000 from 7:40pm), Plate of Origin (459,000) and Family Feud (247,000 from 7:30pm).

Later 60 Minutes won its slot at 622,000 then Midsomer Murders (524,000) and Crime Investigation Australia: Most Famous (339,000).

Nine network won Sunday with 33.1% then Seven 23.6%, ABC 20.4%, 10 13.1% and SBS 9.8%.

Nine News (1.04m) was best for Nine. A later edition managed 295,000.

Seven News also pulled 1.04m for Seven. Between Two Worlds concluded on just 131,000 / 90,000 with a cliffhanger unlikely to ever be resolved.

The 7mate match drew 200,000 viewers in Perth & Adelaide where it screened, helping to nudge Seven to a network share despite its primary channel trailing Nine’s.

Meanwhile there was a three way battle going on last night with The Block (692,000), Anh’s Brush with Fame (682,000) and The Masked Singer (681,000 rising to 797,000 for the reveal of Julia Morris as Kitten). 10’s show beat Nine’s across the demos for the full show.

Next were 7:30 (565,000), Plate of Origin (419,000) and Great Asian Railway Journeys (256,000).

Later Further Back in Time for Dinner won its slot for ABC at 582,000 then Halifax: Retribution (479,000) and Inside the Crown: Secrets of the Royals (305,00).

Nine network won Sunday with 30.1% then Seven 26.2%, ABC 22.1%, 10 12.7% and SBS 8.9%.

Seven News was #1 at 1.17m for Seven. Between Two Worlds was 122,000 / 69,000.

ABC had a strong night last night, with a winning schedule from 7pm – 10pm.

Hard Quiz was the top entertainment drawcard at 698,000 viewers.

That was ahead of 7:30 (608,000), The Bachelor (582,000), RBT (447,000), Highway Patrol (351,000 / 285,000) and Britain’s Ancient Tracks (262,000).

Later Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell won its slot with (622,000) then the season finale of Rosehaven (500,000), Emergency (498,000), America’s Got Talent (254,000) and The Salisbury Poisonings (244,000).

Nine network won Wednesday with 26.9% then Seven 24.3%, ABC 19.3%, 10 19.0% and SBS 10.5%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.07m / 1.05m. The Chase drew 605,000 / 380,000 then Home & Away (613,000).

Nine News (1.01m / 934,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (712,000) and Hot Seat (521,000 / 287,000). Botched was 287,000.

ABC News won its slot at 752,000 for ABC. Planet America (319,000) and The Drum (190,000) followed.

The Project drew 519,000 / 338,000 for 10. 10 News First (385,000 / 236,000), Tommy (223,000) and Bull (152,000) followed.

On SBS it was  SBS World News (188,000) and Mastermind (107,000). Unfortunately the news remains bad for Hungry Ghosts slipping to an embarrassing 68,000 viewers.

Two Aussie dramas went head to head last night, at least for some of the evening, with Halifax: Retribution on Nine and Hungry Ghosts on SBS -sadly, the latter failed to fire in its second outing. It’s unfortunate given viewers wait so long for Aussie drama.

Earlier The Block led at 7:30 with 762,000 viewers.

But The Masked Singer was very close behind at 717,000 and topped the demos, rising to 810,000 for the moment Isaiah Firebrace was revealed as the Wizard -correctly guessed by Jackie O. Anh’s Brush with Fame (613,0000), 7:30 (573,000) and Inside the Crown: Secrets of the Royals (425,000) followed. Great Asian Railway Journeys was 296,000.

Later Halifax: Retribution drew 544,000 / 469,000 then Fight for Planet A (469,000), The Salisbury Poisonings (257,000) and movie: Miss Congeniality (223,000).

Nine network won Tuesday with 29.3% then Seven 26.3%, 10 18.2%, ABC 17.0% and SBS 9.2%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.12m / 1.07m for Seven then The Chase (656,000 / 389,000), Home and Away (627,000). An ABBA Forever repeat was 239,000.

Farmer Wants a Wife has finished its season with 923,000 for Seven -a timeslot win and a season high.

The Block was next at 738,000 then The Masked Singer on 692,000 (rising to 786,000 for the reveal of Sophie Monk), 7:30 (603,000) and Australian Story (469,000). While The Block topped 25-54s, Masked Singer led 16-39s.

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? drew 704,000 defeating newcomer Celebrity: IOU (443,000), Media Watch (437,000), Four Corners (402,000), 9-1-1: Lone Star (327,000) and The Salisbury Poisonings (254,000).

Seven network won Monday with 28.1% then Nine 26.2%, 10 21.2%, ABC 15.9% and SBS 8.6% -a drama experiment on the latter barely shifted the share compared to last Monday’s 8.3%.

Seven News was #1 at 1.19m / 1.12m for Seven. Home and Away drew 673,000 then The Chase (639,000 / 366,000). Chicago Fire was 197,000.

Nine News (1.11m / 1.06m) was best for Nine. A Current Affair was 738,000 then Hot Seat (567,000 / 349,000). A late Nine News edition was 241,000.

The Project drew 580,000 / 346,000 for 10 then 10 News First (433,000 / 253,000) and Just for Laughs Uncut (269,000).

ABC News won its slot at 816,000. Q&A (273,000) and The Drum (204,000) also ranked for ABC.

On SBS it was The Blitz: Britain on Fire (217,000), SBS World News (182,000), Hungry Ghosts (131,000) and Mastermind (100,000).

Bluey was best on multichannels at 175,000.

The Block has begun its 2020 run with 947,000 viewers and a win in the demos. That’s just shy of 2019’s launch of 991,000.

No doubt Farmer Wants a Wife gave it added grief this year, drawing 864,000 last night (and a win when regionals are added). Next was ABC’s Shetland (577,000), but Family Feud struggled on just 293,000, down on last week’s 330,000.

Later Vera (691,000) eclipsed 60 Minutes (559,000) then 7News Spotlight: Catching a Madman (342,000) which was a hefty switch-off given its lead-in.

Nine network won Sunday with 31.7% then Seven 28.7%, ABC 18.6%, 10 12.5% and SBS 8.6%.

Nine News (1.07m) was best for Nine with a late edition drawing 268,000.

Seven News was #1 with 1.19m for Seven. Between Two Worlds will doubtless have to be moved again after just 126,000 / 104,000 in a double episode -last in it slot.

ABC News drew 755,000. Compass was 166,000 and the final edition of The Sound was 122,000.

The Sunday Project pulled 398,000 / 282,000 for 10. 10 News First was 239,000. FBI managed just 175,000 / 149,000.

On SBS it was SBS World News (199,000), The Virus: What Went Wrong? (190,000) and Lost Pyramids Of The Aztecs (182,000).

MotoGP led multichannels on 10 BOLD at 181,000.

The Chase was the top entertainment drawcard at 602,000 / 363,000 last night.

The Bachelor won its timeslot for the first time this season with 591,000 and topped the demos. That was just ahead of 7:30 (587,000) then The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys (363,000), Territory Cops (272,000 / 230,000 in 3 cities) and The Heights (204,000).

Thursday Night NRL drew 310,000 / 66,000 across the Nine network.

Seven network won Thursday with 28.5% then Nine 26.1%, 10 18.9%, ABC 16.4% and SBS 10.1%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.09m / 1.05m for Seven. An extended Home & Away drew 510,000. The Front Bar (342,000) and The Latest (316,000) followed. Movie: Hidden Figures was 129,000 in 2 cities.

Nine News (969,000 / 945,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (739,000) and Hot Seat 518,000 / 312,000. Reported Missing was 135,000 in 3 cities.

The Project drew 548,000 / 306,000 for 10. 10 News First was 362,000 / 249,000 then Celebrity Gogglebox USA (310,000) and Law & Order: SVU (171,000).

Back in a 9:30 timeslot Planet America last night won its slot at 387,000 viewers.

That’s a good result for a show that has been plugging away with Chas Licciardello and John Barron since 2012. And can we say cost effective?

That wasn’t the only good news for ABC. Hard Quiz led in entertainment stakes at 737,000, ahead of The Bachelor (672,000), 7:30 (667,000), RBT (427,000), Highway Patrol (372,000 / 336,000) and Britain’s Ancient Tracks (270,000).

Later Mad as Hell also won its slot on 649,000 then Emergency (513,000) and Rosehaven (473,000).

Elsewhere Sunrise resumed a wider lead over the competition.

Seven network won Wednesday with 26.6% then Nine 25.0%, ABC 19.5%, 10 19.0% and SBS 10.0%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.13m / 1.09m for Seven then Home & Away (622,000), The Chase (621,000 / 384,000) and movie: Wonder Woman (312,000).

The Masked Singer won its slot with 767,000 viewers, rising to 929,000 for the reveal of singer Christine Anu and topped the demos. Anu was not tipped by any of the panel (but some viewers were wise to it).

That was ahead of Australian Ninja Warrior: State of Origin won by WA (736,000), Farmer Wants a Wife (719,000), 7:30 (650,000) and Australian Story (588,000).

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? drew 712,000 then Four Corners (583,000), Media Watch (567,000) and 9-1-1: Lone Star (304,000).

Elsewhere numbers tightened in Breakfast TV with Today at a 4 month high.

Nine network won Monday with 27.0% then Seven 25.0%, 10 21.4%, ABC 18.3% and SBS 8.3%.

Nine News (1.03m / 994,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (777,000) and Hot Seat (568,000 / 344,000). Footy Classified was 144,000 in 3 cities with Witness to Disaster at 128,000 in two cities.

Seven News was #1 with 1.17m / 1.11m for Seven. The Chase (654,000 / 403,000) and Home and Away (626,000) followed. Chicago Fire was 194,000 while Flashpoint in Perth drew 47,000.

The Project drew 576,000 / for 10. 10 News First was 418,000 / 287,000. Just for Laughs: Uncut was 285,000.
