Remember Anna Coren from Today Tonight? CBS News have just announced that she is joining the organisation as their newest foreign correspondent in Hong Kong, moving from her previous role with CNN. – Source @CBSNewsPR on social media
Been following Anna since she left TT and their best meat pies surveys for real reporting for CNN. She’s a big loss to CNN and a big gain by CBS. Assuming the CBS cheque was too big to ignore. At the same time CNN has appointed CBS Vice President of Foreign News and London Bureau Chief Andrew Roy, to the key role of general manager, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and London bureau chief.
I always knew that one of Logan Roy’s offspring was destined for big things in the News Media industry! ;-)
Tonights tennis match between De Minaur and Sinner is just a blowout and Nine would be very disappointed with the result. Without any Australians in the Finals (aside from the Mixed doubles with both Aussie teams), it won’t be great for Nine. Nine is very likely going to lose money from broadcasting tennis once the tennis is over. I have a feeling that Men’s Singles Final could rate lower than last year.
There were no Aussies in 2024 final and it still averaged over 2.1m. Sure it would have been higher with De Minaur but I’d be confident of another big crowd.
It’s only the third time since 2005 that an Australian man has reached a quarterfinal. Hewitt made the finals in 2005 and Kyrgios made quarters in 2015. Nationality isn’t the be all and end all for tennis.
Many of us don’t watch tennis just because an Australian is playing, Nine will not lose any money as sponsorship would be locked in well before the draw is played out.
The last time Australia had a player in the men’s final was 2005 when Lleyton Hewitt played. In the years following, the men’s final with players from overseas has always attracted large audiences. This year will be no different. If Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner play off in the final, the audience will be huge. Losing money from broadcasting tennis? I doubt it.
Hi David. Has 9 signed an extension with Sony for ‘The Young and the Restless’? 9Gem are still airing it from Monday despite your June article indicating contracts were to expire late 2024. I know things change, but was curious. Thanks.

Hi! I’m only speculating. But, 10 appears to have broadcast rights from E12927 (as is available on 10play). They may be choosing to wait for 9 to finish screening episodes up that point for continuity. I roughly place this in May this year.
Disappointing to see Foxtel/Binge not showing the new season of Real Time With Bill Maher which started on the weekend, even though on Binge it said and still says new episode Saturday. With it being an HBO show, wouldn’t it be part of their current deal? But it is Foxtel, who love to get you hooked on a show only to take it off and leave you with re-runs.
There is too much news on free to air during the afternoon on free to air now please put the mid day movie back to 12 Noon and bring back Catch Phrase at 2:pm I love that show
1pm 10 News First – noting 9 do a bulletin at 11.30am and both 2 and 7 do one at midday, is it time to change the name of 10’s contribution?? Realistically, it’s 10 News Last…
Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn II will begin airing on Monday Feb 17. I think all Survivor fans have quietly penciled in this date to be the most likely airdate for a few weeks now!
This probably means Feb 16 will be the finale of I’m a Celebrity?
It is on the TVT Calender
Seven have pulled a surprise today announcing that its new midday bulletin will launch from tomorrow. The network announced that Natasha Belling will present “7 National News at Noon” across Australia following an expanded TMS from 9am-12pm.
Surely this is hearsay only, by Herald Sun, that Alex Cullen has been stood down by nine due some comment cullen made re adrian portelli and McLaren Man ?
That is correct.
” due some comment” for which he received $50,000. I thought this cash-for-comments nonsense ended with Alan Jones and John Laws.
We’re coming up to the 40th Anniversary of the world’s longest-serving anchor duo on television, Rick Ardon & Susannah Carr at TVW-7 Perth (Friday, January 24th is the actual date). Any plans yet on how Seven or perhaps TVTonight will mark the milestone?
Reggie Bird is “Reality Royalty” for I’m A Celebrity, I will post it later.
and there is the winner, even before the full cast is revealed. People will just vote for her because of her story, like they did in BB, irrespective how much she contributed or otherwise to the house. IMHO, this casting has just made the 5 odd weeks it will run to get to the finale, irrelevant..
Tend to agree she will be the one to beat.
Looks like Tony Jones (the TJ one) will be in a bit of trouble with management this morning… Terrible take last night during the 6pm news and his comments (be it tongue-in-cheek or God forbid serious – on the Australian Open’s broadcast partner and he is also a main channel host!) about Novak Djokovic to raucous Serbian fans in the Garden Square background were just so poor. Really thought higher of TJ. This could be a final straw of all his gaffes, did another take on 3AW about equal-viral moment Danielle Collins the night before and who can forget his ‘give us a smile’ to Naomi Osaka after her first win and Nine’s first telecast in 2019 (where he was banished to mornings from the next year). Just search “Tony Jones” on “X”, people are angry, especially after the 2021 COVID/deportation dramas we thought were all behind us. I reckon he will apologise, probably a regrettable moment.
