ABC rural program Landline is moving to prime time over summer, with a special food focus.

Hosted by Pip Courtney, A Taste Of Landline will air on Fridays at 8pm.

“No television program in Australia spends as much time with farmers as Landline. So who better to show people in the city just where their food comes from and how it’s produced? We’re really excited about the concept and there are some terrific stories,” she said.

Starting 4 December and finishing 29 January, the half hour program will highlight food and produce from around the country.

It will be the ultimate ‘paddock to plate’ program, showing in detail where our food comes from and the farmers who grow it, as well as the consumers who buy it and some of Australia’s top chefs who cook it.

There will also be colourful country characters and spectacular locations, but the emphasis will be on food.

A Taste Of Landline will tell the stories behind rare and gourmet produce such as saffron, micro vegetables and craft gin, as well as reporting on market innovations in beef, seafood and wine.

Begins 8pm Friday December 4 on ABC.
