Airdate: Saturday Night Rove

Exclusive: Rove returns for a 6 week run on Saturday nights on 10.

EXCLUSIVE: Rove’s 2018 pilot week show is back for a six week season on 10 from late August.

Saturday Night Rove will be a one hour Live show, in a 7:30pm timeslot.

Broadcast live in front of a studio audience in Sydney, the Roving Enterprises show is described as a freewheeling comedy hour with some of Australia’s funniest comedians.

Judith Lucy is back along with series regulars Alex Lee, Alex Jae and Justin Hamilton.

Rove McManus said: “It’s great to be back doing what I love most, which is causing trouble in a Live television studio. I’m also looking forward to the idea that, whether you are staying in or on your way out, we can be a hub for people to come and hang out on their Saturday night.

“Plus, our drinks won’t be anywhere near as overpriced.”

Saturday Night Rove marks the third Pilot Week project to return in 2019 following Taboo and Kinne Tonight, with Trial by Kyle still to come. Another Pilot Week event is due later this year.

Saturday, 24 August at 7:30pm on 10.

  1. looking forward to it – although I have to ask… why the major delay? If pilot week was a year ago, wouldn’t the momentum have slightly been lost by now? Shame it couldn’t have started earlier in the year or at least when the winter darkness started. Hope it does some solid numbers

  2. This show needs to take the best of so many previous live shows….and tweak them slightly……Don’t forget your Toothbrush, Thank God Your Here, Hey Hey, Rove live, Even Takeaway….get the audience involved and a good celeb interview. Not just a show of stand up comedians that think they are funny and are not. Look forward to seeing Rove back doing what he is best at.

  3. Great news and a perfect time slot! If I’m having a night in on a Saturday night it’s at about this time I’m thinking of ordering some food in for a night in front of the telly. I’m not interested in the slightest in football so generally there’s nothing worth watching on free to air on a Saturday night. I go searching for a movie or series on Netflix usually, but I will tune in for a live TV show such as Rove. Maybe if Ten were smart they’d play a first run recent movie directly after it to stop me pushing the Netflix button on the remote! 😉

  4. Looking forward to this although i think it will do better after the AFL and NRL finals are over. 10 need sport on Saturday Nights badly to compete with Nine and Seven. Maybe Super Rugby or a Rugby 7s competition in prime time on Saturday Nights would be better than a comedy show. I think 10 will go for A League rights considering Foxtel is dropping some of it. Its ironic, Foxtel picked up lower tier sports when FTA didnt want them.

  5. This could be awesome, and I really hope it will be, as the pilot last year was jam-packed with so much fun. I’m hoping it will be a sort-of upgraded ‘Sunday Night Takeaway’ (how Takeaway should have been run in the first place) and exactly what Aus is looking for on Saturday Nights.

The show’s a prefect mix of Rove’s brilliant stand-up comedy, different skits & acting segments, all-star celebrities, ‘undercover’ segments and unwanted but fabulous surprises/pranks. Can’t wait for the 24th August!

  6. >> a six week season on 10 from late August.

I know Rove barracks for Fremantle – but “everyone” else will be watching football finals on Saturday nights in September.

  7. I wish this started in October when i’d be looking for something to watch on Saturday nights not in the crux of the footy seasons. Surely that will impact ratings. Hope this is a ratings hit but I doubt it will be given the often low rating timeslot and network.

  8. Will be interested to see this, just to see if a Rove live show format will be matured or evolved from the previous Rove Live show. I’m hoping it’s good enough to keep watching every week.

  9. ‘a freewheeling comedy hour’….I was hoping for more of a variety show….not sure how I feel about a comedy hour….I will try it out…but not hopeful…. ?
