Rumour: Pluto TV circles Australia

Visiting Paramount execs have talked up AVOD streaming service with Australian staff.

Streaming platform Pluto TV appears to be is inching closer to an Australian launch, after a visit from global Paramount executives.

Maria Kyriacou, President ViacomCBS Networks International Australia, Israel and UK, and Raffaele Annecchino, President & CEO, International Networks, Studios and Streaming at Paramount Global were both recently guests of Paramount ANZ including at the Australian Grand Prix.

US-based Pluto TV is an ad-supported free streaming service available in some 25 markets including US, UK and European territories. Pluto TV offers a range of channels including Movies, Entertainment, News + Opinion, Reality, Crime, Comedy, Gaming + Anime, Kids, Sport and more.

Raffaele Annecchino, last week addressing local staff at 10 Paramount ANZ, spoke about Pluto’s ongoing success in the UK.

Globally Pluto TV has reached a total of 64 million monthly active users. Bob Bakish, President of Paramount Global, has previously expressed a desire to expand the service.

I’m aware of Pluto, it has got a point of difference to other subscription services where a lot of the channels are based on a particular TV show, so you could tune into the 24 hour The Amazing Race channel or the Sabrina the Teenage Witch channel, or whatever they plan on having. And there are a range of other channels as mentioned in the article. Having a point of difference is the main thing when there is already Netflix and other services.
