Snackmasters returning to Nine

Nine series with chefs recreating fast food and confectionery is confirmed for S2.

EXCLUSIVE:

2021 series Snackmasters is returning to Nine.

TV Tonight recently sat down with Adrian Swift Head of Content, Production and Development to discuss Q2 titles, led by Lego Masters (that story next week).

Nine teased a number of shows coming this year.

“The biggest chunk of Q2 is the end of MAFS and the beginning of Lego. What then goes in after that, we shall see,” he hinted.

“Travel Guides is back, Celebrity Apprentice, Ninja is back, Beauty & the Geek is back -but I’m not going to tell you when they’re going.”

But he did confirm the return of Snackmasters at a date also to to be confirmed.

“Yes. There’s a there’s a bit of information for you. That isn’t out yet.”

Based on a UK format the show debuted late last year with Poh Ling Yeow, Scott Pickett challenging chefs to recreate fast food and confectionery, with Yvie Jones as a ‘food detective’ on the factory floor.

Also coming this year is Buying Byron which centres around property agents.

“It’s not Byron Baes, there are no influencers. It’s none of those things. It’s basically property porn meets interesting agents. It’s good. The f***ing houses they are selling are amazing. The amount of money they’re selling them for is amazing. I go to Byron Bay every year because that’s where we have our anniversary. So I know it pretty well. It is amazing,” he continues.

“It will complement The Block. It’s a real estate show. The Block is a renovation show. We see them -whether the audience does or not I don’t know- as quite different things. The Block is about transforming and revealing and the journey along the way. But real estate is about isn’t this house beautiful, can this man or woman sell it?”

  1. It’s more or less branded content, isn’t it? So, one would imagine it’s cheaper to produce than other formats, with input from said brand each episode.

  2. Snackmasters was okay, reasonable filler towards the end of ratings. But it dragged out, it should be tightly wrapped into 30mins. But the problem is nobody makes 30 min shows these days as it’s cheaper to drag it out for longer than make more content.

    1. totally agree, it was too long, over an hour if i remember correctly? Maybe 45 mins at the most, no real reason we need 1/2 hour, one hour shows etc nowadays really since even shows starting at 7.30pm have staggered finish times.
