Neighbours slips back to 3 episodes per week

From next week, Ramsay Street takes up residence on 3 instead of 4 days a week on 10.

In a surprising move, next week Neighbours will screen 3 days a week rather than 4.

A Network 10 spokesperson: “From Monday, 14 October through to Wednesday, 18 December, Neighbours will air three times a week (Monday to Wednesday at 4.00pm on 10 and 10 Play and 6:30pm on 10 Peach Comedy).”

Family Feud will screen Thursdays and Fridays on 10 and with Friends on 10 Peach Comedy.

But the move is not permanent.

“In 2025, your favourite Ramsay Street residents will return to screens four times a week from Monday to Thursday,” they added.

It isn’t clear if the move might put Australian viewers out of sync with UK viewers given episodes have screened on the same day since the show’s revival.

Neighbours, which traditionally screened 5 days a week, returned as 4 days a week when it returned in 2022 on 10 and Amazon Prime.

Other global soaps have also seen output changes with Shortland Street dropping from 5 to 3 episodes per week and Britain’s Hollyoaks to 3 episodes per week.

Home & Away remains at outlier at up to 6 episodes per week on Seven.

  1. I do wonder what Amazon’s plans are for the series beyond their initial order. Surely that decision has to be made soon. If Amazon decides not to proceed beyond the initial order (I suspect they will but streamers are notoriously fickle), the show will again be in a bind as 10 couldn’t foot the entire bill then and certainly can’t do so now in even more dire circumstances.

    1. Amazon ‘upgraded’ Neighbours from the 2024 season from being a Freevee Original title to a Prime Video title in the UK (not sure if that’s the same for the US). Neighbours is also usually one of the top 3 programmes on Prime in the UK. Both good indicators that it may go beyond this current season, but as you say the streamer’s are fickle.

  2. It would seem the simplest explanation would be that if it remains 4 episodes a week the show will finish end of November, but they’re spreading it out to last into December instead? Depends on what you prefer I guess as there’s still only the same number of episodes available.

  3. What a bizarre move. If it’s not a permanent thing, then why show it just 3 nights a week for “two months”? If there is there a Christmas break, then the UK can do catch up during that time…..

What a way to alienate the last few remaining Australian audience there is….
