ESPN on Disney+ March 26

Loads of live sport come at the same time as a price hike for Standard subs.

ESPN on Disney+ will launch on 26 March for all Australia and New Zealand subscribers, both Disney+ Premium and Disney+ Standard with more than 10,000 hours of live sports and fan-favourite studio shows.

The offering tips off with the NBA Playoffs in April, NCAA March Madness, MLB Opening Day, and even more premier sporting events streaming soon, such as the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and UFC Fight Night.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios also helms a new campaign for Disney+.

The Walt Disney Company ANZ Senior Vice President and Managing Director, and Head of ESPN Asia-Pacific, Kylie Watson-Wheeler, said: “We’re thrilled in the year of ESPN’s 30th Anniversary in Australia and New Zealand to bring our compelling sports offering to Disney+ subscribers in addition to the expansive and beloved entertainment already available on platform.

“We’re excited to be further broadening ESPN’s audience across major international sports, kicking off with all the action of the NBA Playoffs as the league’s champions battle it out.”

Australia and New Zealand will be the first English-speaking markets outside of North America to launch ESPN on Disney+.

The arrival comes just two days before a price hike, with the Disney+ Standard plan at $15.99 per month. Standard will be $159.99pa and Premium will be $209.99pa.

ESPN is separately available via Foxtel, Kayo Sport, Fetch TV, and Sky NZ.

  1. My subscription just ended on March 4th , I’ll renew for a month when Andor S2 comes out but since I have Kayo I won’t renew yearly again and just like their Park prices the sky’s the limit.

  2. Yawn, why bundle this and up prices, those of us not interested now subsidising their sport side of the business. This is what people complained about with Foxtel for decades, things included in packages they didn’t want, and subsidising sport overall as it’s so expensive, then streaming came along and Foxtel finally split out sport and entertainment. Now here we have Disney going back to the bad old days of bundled content. Should be offered as an add on at the least.
FYI original Disney launch $89.99 now $209.99, $120 increase in a few short years.
