Kim & Banjo win Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies

It's not about best breed ABC insists, but one was still voted top dog in the season finale.

Victorian farmer and mother, Kim Dodson and her kelpie Banjo have been named winners of Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies.

Sunday’s final episode saw all six dogs tested across three challenges under the watch of experts and breeders, Neil and Helen McDonald along with Mick and Carolyn Hudson, plus guest judges Muster Dogs alumni Joni Hall, Series 2 winner Zoe Miller, and respected sheepdog trial judge Barry Knight.

After three trials it was a three way tie, until Banjo was deemed best overall.

“I’m a little bit overwhelmed at the moment,” said Kim. “I was super surprised that Banjo was crowned Champion Muster Dog. It was really tight. The other dogs were such high quality, they’re fantastic dogs. There’s not one that I wouldn’t take home. So it’s such a privilege.”

But Ambience Entertainment and ABC were always at pains to avoid choosing a breed as overall winner, noting  thestrengths of both Collies and Kelpies, stating that success depends on choosing the breed that suits individual personality, stock and conditions.
