ONE HD catch-up coming

TEN is planning a catch-up site for ONE HD to launch by late 2010.

TEN is planning a catch-up site for ONE HD to launch by “late 2010.”

CEO Grant Blackley confirmed the plans recently.

At the moment ONE is buried in TEN’s official website with a low presence.

When it launches the catch-up for ONE, expect to see catch-up replays of such sports as MotoGP, Formula One and NBL.

  1. Well Steven Guy, you do know this is a sports channel don’t you ?
I enjoy the Thursday Night Live show they have a good mix of news on all sports, I do enjoy the baseball coverage also.

  2. @Philc

In comparison to other networks across the world, the amount of ads in One’s broadcast is rather fair. Try watching a Speed or Star Sports telecast!

  3. Secret Squïrrel, how can you say that ONE’s commercial breaks are shorter than the host broadcaster, when that is the BBC and they have no commercial breaks at all?

I just want to see live practice sessions, even if it is streamed online on TEN’s website. Why is this so hard?

  4. Re the F1 – IMO, ONE’s live broadcast is pretty good and the ad breaks are relatively few, scheduled appropriately, and usually short, certainly shorter than those of their parent broadcaster.

The F1 is already replayed on 10 later the same evening, and again on ONE the next day (and sometimes a third time). Still, it’ll be good for people who want to be able to watch at a time that’s convenient for them.

@Steven Guy – yep, and while we’re at it let’s have some non-kids’ shows on ABC3, some non-news programs on ABC24, and petition 7mate for some infomercials promoting the latest made-up exercise fad and a documentary on the history of macramé.

  5. Compared to live broadcasts of other sports I reckon One do a pretty decent job with regards the ad breaks during F1 coverage. They usually try and time them during what might be a quieter period during the race (say to avoid clashing with possible strategic moves during pitting or when the leaders might be coming up on lapped traffic).

  6. Yes, do what steven guy says! Just because he hates the choices on offer and doesnt think anyone else likes them, ONE should get rid of them

    Start a petition steven!

On a serious note – UFC is a rather popular program on ONE HD. Why would they get rid of it? I, for one, am glad all the poker is gone

  7. I record the F1 and usually during the race they have minimal breaks (about 4-5 during the race) and they only last about 2 minutes each, it’s called commercial TV.

I’ll be surprised if F1 is on that list, they have tight rules for rights to F1.

Yes of course it’s there so those who don’t have HD can catch up on their sport.

  8. David, I reckon this is being done to make up for the upcoming loss of standard-definition One.

Don’t be surprised, if the day the catchup service launches, standard definition One transmissions cease, and the loop for Eleven begins.
