Rolf Harris facing new charges

Veteran entertainer Rolf Harris, 83, is facing fresh charges of sexual abuse involving a girl as young as ‘seven or eight’.

The charges come on top of 13 previously alleged sexual offences charges, some of which involve the same victims.

Harris, who was charged in August this year, is now accused of attacking one child during the 60s.

He is also said to have attacked a 14-year-old girl in 1975 and a girl aged 19 in 1984.

“These three allegations were included in the file sent to the CPS by the Metropolitan Police in August of this year, however as part of the ongoing review process for all cases, it has been decided that these allegations should be formally added to the indictment as further counts,” a spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said.

“Evidence relating to these further counts has already been served on the court and the defence, so it is not necessary for Mr. Harris to appear again at Magistrates Court.”

Harris will appear at Southwark Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on January 14 2013.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in September where he was bailed and a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey in October set his trial for April 30th.

Harris has previously denied all allegations.
