Hot Seat locks in sponsor plugs

Eddie McGuire thanked 4 sponsors, and read tourism ads in Queensland episodes.

There was no studio audience and no switching of seats, but Hot Seat episodes filmed in Queensland hit screens today.

Eddie McGuire opened the show by thanking those who had made the shift from Melbourne to the Gold Coast possible: Queensland Government, Screen Queensland, the City of Gold Coast and The Star.

The show still uses audio for applause and instead of switching seats in between rounds contestants stick to a single chair …except for when they take to the Hot Seat itself (which possibly defeats the purpose?). Contestants also have no family / friend as a lifeline but an Ask the Host assist is added.

McGuire also voiced two ads: Tourism Queensland and The Star which most resident of NSW and Victoria are unable to visit, at least at this point in time.

Episodes are expected to run until at least late November.

  1. About time they show new episodes. The audience not being there doesn’t matter anyways. Hopefully they’ve revamped the show to include less talking about contestant’s life stories and more proper millionaire questions like the Chase.

    1. I like hearing about the ppl who will win life changing money. I applied again but still haven’t made it on. It beats the soulless chase with watching people lose money to greed, also…the total money if they win is pitiful. cheap show

  2. Great to see Hot Seat back on – tonight’s winners daughter has been in the news up here recently. My friend in Caloundra made it on one of the episodes. They said that a bloke wiped down the chair every time someone left the Hot Seat.
