Comedy special Rhys Darby: Big in Japan screens this week on 10.
Beloved Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby embarks on a hilarious, off-beat adventure throughout Japan, on a mission of personal and professional development to develop a deeper understand of Japanese culture and the ancient art of comedy.
In an attempt to break into the Japanese entertainment industry, Rhys Darby designs a brand and enrols in a mascot school.
But he’s homesick, so he spends time with a typical Japanese family, who are in fact a bit like the Osbournes.
9:30pm Friday December 10 on 10.

Have loved Rhys since I first saw him in his early ‘Flight of the Conchords’ days. Poor old Murray was a brilliant character.
Look forward to watching.
I’d assumed this series had already been shown at some point. There’s 4 eps up on Paranount+ – which just checking now has dates in June last year attached to each episode.
Hi David, this show actually starts this Friday (December 10) at 9.30pm. I am not sure why it has been given a late timeslot, it deserves to be at 7.30pm or 8.30pm.
Thanks for spotting, fixed!
What an odd timeslot. Surely that should be a 7.30pm show. Not wasted in the dead zone at 9.30pm on a Friday night.
