Wayne Carey and Seven AFL part company

AFL commentator Wayne Carey is not returning to Seven for 2023.

WA Police said on Thursday an investigation into an incident with white powder at Crown Perth had been completed and no criminal charges will be laid.

“We have been in regular dialogue with Wayne Carey as the WA Police investigation was conducted,” Seven head of network sport, Lewis Martin, said in a statement.

“Wayne has advised Seven that due to the media attention he and his family have received as a result of this incident, he doesn’t intend to do any media in 2023.

“We wish to thank Wayne for his service to Seven.”

Carey, who recently featured on SAS Australia, was reportedly on a season by season contract that is reviewed each year.

Carey claimed it was anti-inflammatory medication that he took to deal with pain from his football career.
