    1. They probably think it’s close enough to cash in and be the first to report when something goes T up or worse they have no sense of direction.

    2. Because the live coverage would be of interest to Ten’s viewers in the cyclone-impacted areas. As I understand it, the Ten station that serves those areas is a direct feed of Ten’s Perth station, meaning that, if Ten’s Perth feed didn’t take the coverage live, the Ten station in the cyclone-impacted areas wouldn’t.

      1. It’s just not of interest to Ten viewers impacted by the cyclone and they didn’t do a live Studio 10 back in March 2017 when Cyclone Debbie hit Airlie Beach, Proserpine or Bowen, Matt White, Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop stayed in the studio and only did live/update crosses to various reporters. Chuck128 comment has a point.

        1. Chuck128 does indeed have a point. Since the cyclone hit 1,000 km away from Perth, viewers in Perth wouldn’t necessarily be interested in it. However, the viewers in Port Hedland and other cyclone-impacted areas would be more likely to be interested in the coverage. I fully recognize that Ten is not the place that most people turn to for news, and I don’t suspect that Ten had a large number of viewers tune in for its coverage. That being said, the move does show that Ten is at least trying to do more with its news coverage, despite the network’s own limitations, at a time when other outlets are cutting back or closing up shop.
