Paul Kent pleads not guilty to domestic violence charges

NRL 360 presenter to fight police charges and maintains he has full support of his employers.

NRL 360 presenter Paul Kent has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence charges and says his employers, the Daily Telegraph and FOX Sports, “fully support him”.

Kent appeared at Downing Centre Local Court today to plead not guilty to two domestic violence-related offences after a 33-year-old woman alleged she had been choked.

Police said a third charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm was expected to be laid.

Police were called to a home in Lilyfield on Friday morning and arrested Kent and a 33-year-old woman -the woman was released without charge.

Outside court, Kent told reporters he was “embarrassed” about the charges , saying, “It’s just the rugby league soap opera, it’s the way it rolls.

“It’s my day in the storyline right now and that’s fine, people are entitled to their opinions.”

He added, “I don’t think my career is over,” he said.

Paul Kent is not currently appearing on NRL 360, with Braith Anasta saying, “Gorden Tallis is replacing Paul Kent this week. Paul Kent is stood down while he deals with personal issues.”

FOX Sports has also recently removed catch-up episodes.

Full Stop Australia, a non-profit aimed at ending family violence, also deleted a previous tweet of his ambassadorship for the organisation which  ended six years ago.

Kent is set to reappear in court on June 28.
