9Now: Ben Roberts-Smith: The Verdict

This afternoon 9Now will live stream Ben Roberts-Smith: The Verdict.

Ben Roberts-Smith VC, Australia’s most decorated living soldier and General Manager Seven Queensland, will learn if his defamation case against Nine Entertainment is successful.

He alleges three Australian newspapers – the Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Canberra Times – defamed him in their reporting, and falsely portrayed him as a war criminal and murderer who “broke the moral and legal rules of military engagement”.

He denies all wrongdoing.

Roberts-Smith stood aside from his Seven network duties in April 2021 to focus on the legal case.

Justice Anthony Besanko in Sydney’s federal court will hand down his verdict at 2:15pm AEST.
