Huge Logies crowd stayed the distance for marathon show

TV's night of night averaged an impressive 1.34m viewers -with 932,000 of them still watching after 11pm.

The 64th Logie Awards pulled a huge crowd for Seven last night.

The ceremony averaged 1.34m in National TV Audience, however that only represents the original planned time of 7:30 – 11pm and not the one hour overrun.

The Red Carpet portion averaged 1.16m.

The 1% Club UK -which was actually the final hour of the Live broadcast- was a very high 932,000 meaning the crowd was glued to the very end when Larry Emdur finally won.

Meanwhile The Block‘s first room reveal did very well against tough competition at 1.2m. In its new 7pm timeslot Hunted was 422,000 for 10. At 7:30pm a Vera repeat averaged 554,000 for ABC.

Seven News was #1 at 1.4m viewers, adding to Seven’s big night.

Nine News scored 1.28m with 60 Minutes at 701,000. A late news edition was 317,000 with Footy Furnace on 107,000 where it screened.

ABC News drew 776,000 with Antiques Roadshow (272,000), the return of Compass (270,000) and Fifteen-Love (138,000) following.

10 News First was 296,000. In its earlier 6pm slot The Sunday Project pulled 255,000 then The Real CSI: Miami (115,000) and True Crime: Claremont: A Killer Among Us (90,000).

On SBS it was SBS World News (227,000 / 160,000) and Pompeii: The New Dig (176,000).

  1. I can’t believe the Logies ran for more than four hours, that’s longer than the Oscars now.I enjoyed the show, but surely they could make it a bit tighter, couldn’t they?

  2. Haven’t watched the Logies in years, Sam Pang factor brought me back, if he isn’t host for the next decade I’ll be surprised.

  3. My TV EPG throughout the evening said 1% Club from 1104 -1159.

This blog (like most viewers) had previously predicted that it was likely to run to at least 1125.

What an amazing coincidence that the show finished at 1159 –
Did Channel 7 tell them to stretch seeing as they were running late?

  4. I didn’t watch the carpet, too boring. But the show itself generally did not feel too long. They kept the awards moving quickly and noone was allowed to ramble. The Hall of Fame segment was too long, and there were a few doubtful ‘sketches’. To save time, they could have changed Sam Pang to be funny, not mean.

  5. Seven’s week off to a very good start and all clear of Olympics. Will Nine see a ‘halo’ effect? Or did that fizzle (unlike previous Games for Seven) and it’s already ding ding game on! All eyes on tonight…

    1. The halo I reckon is already evaporating i think. Both mornings and prime time news has reverted to preolympics numbers – perhaps too much to ask for seven’s rusted on viewers to change – but also, even during the Olympics, sevens numbers were almost the same as before Olympics and nines numbers just ballooned…..

      1. Nine didn’t collapse either from memory at least during Tokyo 2020, in fact they were rating way higher (600k+ metro broadcast for Sophie Monk’s “Beauty and the Geek”), so…
