Samantha Armytage has confirmed her departure from Seven Network after 21 years, set to exit when her contract ends in October.
Over two decades Armytage has hosted Sunrise, Farmer Wants a Wife, Today Tonight, Sunday Night, The Morning Show and Bringing Sexy Back.
In a social media post she confirmed she was looking towards a new chapter.
Seven has confirmed Natalie Gruzlewski will continue with Farmer Wants a Wife in 2025.
Angus Ross, Group Managing Director, Seven Television said: “After 21 years, Samantha Armytage has decided to leave the Seven Network in October this year. We fully understand and support her decision.
“Sam has made a remarkable contribution to Seven over more than two decades, from 7NEWS and Sunrise to, more recently, Farmer Wants A Wife.
“Her genuine affection for the country lifestyle she’s grown up with and enjoys to this day has shone through her three seasons with the TV Week Logie Award-nominated series. It’s been a pleasure watching Sam share her pride of these communities with Australia as our incredible farmer love stories have unfolded.
“We wish Sam – and her farmer – every happiness and success for the future.
“Natalie Gruzlewski will continue to play cupid for our new crop of farmers and their ladies when the new season of Farmer Wants A Wife arrives on Channel 7 and 7plus in 2025.”

If Nine got her for Today they would win the ratings. Her and Karl would go off. Get Sarah back to 60 minutes.
I always thought she was very good at her job but disliked the giggling at nothing.
Sam’s role on Farmer Wants A Wife always had that “burning off her contract” aura to it (I don’t remember Sam doing anything else on the network since she left Sunrise a few years ago), so no major surprise that her time at Seven is coming to an end. Farmer will probably survive with Natalie Gruzlewski as the primary host in 2025 and as per craigj77, it wouldn’t be a major surprise if Armytage eventually got her own show on Sky News.
In light of this development, one wonders if within the next month or so, we’ll hear that the currently on-leave Mark Ferguson’s time as lead presenter of Seven News Sydney came to an end on July 18. Certainly, it can’t be a good sign that Fergo hasn’t (so far anyway) been selected to guest co-host WSFM breakfast during Amanda Keller’s absence while various other commercial TV personalities have!
Hard not to conclude seven wanted to renew at a lower rate (FWAW is one of, if not, sevens best rated non news/sport program so why mess with that if you don’t have to) and Sam replied no thanks. Based on nothing other than reading the tea leaves of seven looking to slash costs.
I had the same thought.
Have Seven added reading the tea to their news bulletins yet?
That’s what I was thinking as well, happens in any industry where periodic employment contracts get negitiated. Good on her for walking away on her terms , it can be liberating.
I still think Sam Armytage and Andrew O’Keefe were the best duo Sunrise has ever had – great chemistry, always hilarious quick-witted comments, and a natural delivery. Of course we all know what’s happened with Andrew since, but it’s a shame Sam is not on air at the moment as she’s such great talent.
Someone will gonna get her own Sky News show….
It will be wonderful to have Natalie back hosting Farmer Wants A Wife. All the best to Ms Armytage.
I agree. Though I do like Sam, it just wasn’t the same show without Miss wonderfully natural and friendly Nat. I wish Sam all the best in her new endeavours.
