US action drama 9-1-1: Lone Star will end with its upcoming fifth season.
The final season will consists of 12 episodes due to premiere in the US later this month.
Deadline reports unlike 9-1-1, Lone Star is not expected to jump to US network ABC, which renewed the flagship series for an eight season, but 9-1-1 could get another spinoff in a new location, with Las Vegas among potential cities rumored to follow Los Angeles (9-1-1) and Austin (9-1-1: Lone Star).
“From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television — Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear — for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere,” FOX TV Network President Michael Thorn said.
“Now in our final season of the show, we’re set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”
9-1-1: Lone Star screens in Australia on Seven.

This comment is more to do with 911 but it’s also creeping into Lone Star. They need to go back to the eps where there are several emergencies each episode. Last season of 911 was almost all about the main cast’s relationships. This shouldn’t be that show.
I think if you watch any show, the relationships always take a stronger focus over the years because viewers bond with the characters. It’s a normal progression in television.
In terms of 9-1-1, the show is one of the most expensive on TV to produce (it’s why FOX axed it). It’s in its 8th season now so doing those big emergencies get more expensive along with cast salaries, etc. it would not surprise me if 9-1-1 ends with season 8 or 9 for this reason.
I agree 100%. I think it was due to the 10 episode short season and the change to a new network. They probably had a lot of stuff they wanted to cram into. Also the opening emergency took 3 episodes because they probably wanted to make a big impact on ABC.
I hope the new season goes back to 2-3 emergencies an ep instead of 1-2 smaller ones we saw last season
I’m gutted, it’s such a great show. I’m currently watching it for the third time. Looking forward to the fifth season
Not surprising news given there was a lot speculation about the show ending with cast kinda confirming it etc well before the official news. I think it was known to them when filming this season early this year.
I like both LS & OG but I think OG is better than LS because it showcases all of the ensemble very well and kinda equally while LS is all about Rob Lowe with some to little focus on the rest.
