Seven drops the Twist

“For the first time ever disco will be added to the dance styles performed and there will be a big twist during the series for the celebrities.”
– Seven Press Release 31 January 2007.

As Dancing with the Stars approaches its final episode of the series, Seven is backing down from its promise to deliver a twist.

When last I spoke with the Executive Producer he was coy about when “or if” the show would unveil its promised twist. So far nobody from Publicity has bothered to clarify whether it will go ahead either. It seems clear that it was an early idea which has now fallen through.

In the UK the producers of Come Strictly Dancing floated the idea of bringing back an eliminated dancer too, but after the remaining contestants cried foul, that stunt fell through as well. Perhaps producers here are sticking closer to the UK format than they intended!

No other media seems to have picked up on this glaring omission from the nation’s highest rated show. Perhaps they just don’t remember?

Seeing as Today Tonight has made a habit of sensationalist stories about its own stable shows (cross promotion, cross promotion), maybe they might like to get an answer out of Seven for me?

Or better yet, just get Kate and Fifi to actually dance The Twist and write it off as a play on words.

  1. Once again, we assume that Tim Campbell will win, don’t bother to vote and he gets evicted … hope Kate wins, don’t like Fifi, but would rather Tim was there to win it. Not a very interesting Grand Final this time! (Again, the producers should have rigged it!)
