A new multi-cam sitcom by Roseanne Barr has been greenlit to pilot stage by NBC.
Downwardly Mobile, written and executive-produced by Barr, will feature her as the proprietor of a mobile home park and surrogate mother to all the characters who live there. NBC picked up the script in October after her Reality series Roseanne’s Nuts ended in September.
The project is one of several new NBC comedy projects proceeding to pilot.
The others include an untitled project executive-produced by Jimmy Fallon following three thirtysomething guys who enjoy the adventures of parenting even though they haven’t grown up themselves; Friday Night Dinner, based on a UK format, revolves around a quirky family that has dinner every Friday night; and Animal Kingdom, an office-based comedy featuring a House-like veterinarian who loves the animals but hates their owners.

Sounds a awful lot like trailer park boys.
This could be comic caravan or trailer trash.
Let’s hope it’s the former.
@par3182 – what about one of the most popular shows on TV today, The Big Bang Theory?
“multi-cam sitcom” – fail.
Roseanne as a proprietor of a mobile home park almost sounds like the character she played in an episode of My Name Is Earl
Ever since Friends and Will and Grace left our screens, NBC have never had a huge ratings success with sitcoms. Nowadays if a comedy is to do well… it needs to be shown on CBS for some reason.
Good luck to her anyway
@deedeedragons says: Laurie Metcalf plays Sheldon Coopers mother in The Big Bang Theory, however she is only in one or two episodes per season so she wouldnt be contracted to Warner Bros or CBS so she may be free.
Hmm…. Interesting. Depends who the rest of the cast is & how well they fit in with her. What’s Laurie Metcalf doing these days?
