Despite its title it won’t actually be airing at midnight, which is a bit of a gag in itself.
In a world where Tweets, Vines, GIFs, Instagrams and Facebook posts reign supreme, Chris Hardwick leads viewers down the ultimate internet wormhole in this new late-night comedy competition, @midnight.
Produced by Funny Or Die, a rotating line up of today’s top comedians battle nightly to determine who has the funniest take on current social media and pop culture happenings and wear the crown of funniest person on Earth (for the next 23 1⁄2 hours).
Using social media as the catalyst and a fake game show as the setting, @midnight challenges comedians to prove who’s the funniest by slashing the craziest, most absurd news and posts that social media has to offer: from the latest celebrity Instagram shots to the creepiest Craigslist posting to Buzzspeed lists and infamous #HashtagWars.

Given it screens at 10:35 on a Monday, it may as well be on at midnight.
First ABC2 buy the FTA rights to Jimmy Fallon, now SBS2 buy the rights to @midnight – Comedy just can’t catch a break. Let’s see how long we have until another press release from Comedy is released saying they are dropping it in place for exclusive series like they did with Fallon.
