Cancelled: Crossing Jordan, Studio 60. Renewed: Scrubs?

NBC is pulling the plug on Crossing Jordan and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Studio 60 by West Wing’s Aaron Sorkin looks at network television, and Nine has the rights here in Australia. Starring Matthew Perry in a dramatic role, it may have been too smart or too inward-looking for the wider American market.

But Scrubs appears to have been saved from the same fate with early word that it will win a final season of 18 episodes.

Screening in Australia on the Seven Network, it recently won a Fugly Award as the “show most messed around by networks.”

Elsewhere, the future of Law & Order remains shaky. As previously reported, this is separate to the ongoing viability of the SVU spin-off.

  1. I cannot believe that NBC cancelled
Crossing Jordan!!!I will not watch any new programs on NBC,they lost me as a viewer and I HOPE many more people jump on the band wagon with me.That was one of the best shows on and I watched it every week.I’m going to try and get to NBC and tell them how I feel!!!

  2. My we have a lot of aggrieved American fans of Jordan visiting this little Aussie blog.

You guys may apply more pressure in US sites if you want NBC to notice.

    Just a thought..

  3. Crossing Jordan was the only thing worth watching Wednesday or any other night on NBC. Rest assured I will watch Bones on Fox and anything on any channel other than NBC from here on out. The CJ fans have been abandoned by NBC so I think we should abanfon them!!!

  4. You’ve got to be kidding! Crossing Jordan cancelled! What is NBC thinking? Aside from the Law and Order Series, Crossing Jordan was the best thing that happened to NBC. You all need to get a grip on things.

  5. Crossing Jordan was my favorite show. NBC sucks and I will not watch any of their new shows. No wonder they have slipped in the rankings. They have no taste and do not care about the fans of the show!

  6. Crossing Jordan was one of the few shows I really enjoyed watching on NBC. Maybe the network should listen to the viewers like CBS did when they reversed their decision to cancel Jerico.

  7. I am very upset about NBC cancelling Crossing Jordan. It was
an excellant tv show. There are so few quality tv shows on the air.
I now watch A&E for Crossing Jordan
reruns. I hope that NBC will reconsider and find a wy to bring it back.

  8. I too wil miss Crossing Jordan. I truly believe it is one of the best if not The best series on. Its so hard to find anything worth spending an hour of time watching. Too many mindless Reality shows ????? Is anybody listening

  9. From a loyal Crossing Jordan fan in Connecticut. I was so disappointed, not just with the show being cancelled but that pitiful last episode – gee whiz! It’s not too late NBC — just put your creative minds together and bring the show back! There are very few shows in which I enjoyed EVERY character. Even my favorite show ever — JAG, there were some characters I could have done without, but Crossing Jordan I looked forward to seeing them all, even the recurring characters. I say, call the entire cast before some other show snatches them up and bring the show back, and while you are at it — write a script where Jordan and Woody finally get together already!!! NBC are you listening?!?

  10. I will definitely miss Cross Jordan. I am not sure what NBC is thinking. Crossing Jordan was about the only show on NBC I watched. I guess I will not be watching NBC unless they really reconsider renewing it.

  11. I never missed an episode of Crossing Jordan. It was a good show and will truly be missed. In the last few years TV programming has a lot to be desired. Thank goodness for the movies but finding a good one is difficult to find.

  12. Corssing Jordan is one of the few TV shows that i have watched consistently over the years. It would have been nice to have some kind of ending. Well, this is just one more reason not to watch TV!

  13. I can’t believe Jordan is gone, I looked forward to watching her and talked about her at work with my Co-Worker on Monday, Thursday when she was moved to Wed. We are both HUGE fans and are shocked that she has been canceled. But it figures NBC never lets a good thing last for long.

  14. I too can not believe that NBC is cancelling Crossing Jordan. It is by far the best forensic type show on TV. That means better than all the CSI’s. I really would love to see the show continue — as would it’s loyal following. I even watched all the reruns on A&E cable TV. Is there anything that can be done to revive this great show???

  15. I am so upset that Crossing Jordan was cancelled! It is one of the best shows going. The fans deserved something a lot better than that lukewarm series finale-like a seventh season-c’mon NBC-please rethink this!

  16. I can not believe that they canceled Crossing Jordan. It had and still has a strong following. It is not fair that they approve for the next season and then just cut it off. We don’t even get a chance to say goodbye. We are all left with some many questions as to what is going to happen next. I think that NBC needs to give us a reason why they canceled cause honestly if you ask me they canceled the best show they have on that channel. CJ was the only reason I pay for time warner cable.
    This just sucks.

  17. I’m sorry but Studio 60 was a terrible show. I can see those who agree with Sorkin’s politics enjoying it but thats about all. Do we really believe the writers of some comedy scketch show (who never apparently come up with anything funny) are so witty and meaningful to the world? I found the show to be a sick joke and a prime example of the self important self image some hollywood types have of themselves. If I want to hear constant rantings against Christians and Middle America I can turn on CNN. This show appealed to a small market segment who will support any show so long as the political undertones (and outright in your face politics) align with their own. The show was lucky to have lasted a full season-if not for its leftist leanings I suspect it would have been cancelled after the pilot episode.

  18. ABC is looking better all the time. Jordan was a great show. So was Studio 60. I am not sure what NBC is doing, but they are shooting themselves in the foot. Bad move always delaying episodes and changing days.

  19. I agree – cancelling Crossing Jordan is definitely a bad move. I can think of several other shows NBC should consider instead. Crossing Jordan has a loyal following, and it is disrespectful to not even offer the show a chance to air a decent finale.

  20. I can’t believe NBC is ending Crossing Jordan this way after six seasons! The fans deserve a real finale!! Figures…it is NBC afterall

  21. A definite possibility, but now the show is ending there won’t be many who want to get behind it, probably including the ABC.

I would expect Nine to air it in summer unfortunately.

  22. do you think there’s any chance Nine will palm Studio 60 off to the ABC?

its an excellent show, and it deserves to get a play on Australian television, but I can’t see Nine bothering considering how poorly it rated in the US.

i think it would be perfect for the ABC.
