Neighbours recast a "huge mistake."

Ian Smith, who plays the lovable ‘Harold Bishop,’ has criticised cast changes in Neighbours upcoming revamp.
Along with switches to the set, some contracts were not renewed, in particular some favourites of Smith’s.
“I think it was a huge mistake to get rid of them – I was in love with every single one,” Smith told Inside Soap.

The Timmins family will depart Erinsborough, meaning the actors to disappear include Nell Feeney (Janelle) and Sianoa Smit-McPhee (Bree).
“Fortunately, we’re still left with Janae, played by Eliza Taylor-Cotter,” says Smith. “If you want an actress who’s going places, look to her. She’s a natural-born comedienne and a lovely person, too. If I could have been guaranteed of having a child like her in real life, I might have considered it.”
The new Neighbours can be seen from July 23 on TEN.

I honestly have no idea. Dan is THE ugliest person on the show IMO, and frankly, I can’t see anybody of any sexual preference can find that talentless tool attractive or even remotely watchable. I find myself focusing on the TEN watermark whenever he’s in a scene and mentally block off my ears because he’s so unbearably bad.
And although Zeke is pretty bad, as much as I HATE to admit it, as annoying and dimwitted he is, he’s far less annoying, although he should also be booted off.
Nikki Whelan (Pepper) is pretty bad as well. I try not to judge the actors too much, but the writing is the reason why the actors don’t have a lot to work with and whenever the writers want to stir up drama, even the most likeable of characters turn into a total d*ck. I’d offer my services, but I wouldn’t want Neighbours to mark the first entry on my (as of now) nonexistent resume hehe. 😛
I honestly cannot believe they persist with Dan O’Connor. Surely the writers can’t be that blind.
Even Mark Little (Joe Mangel) said of him “…I did see a particularly bad scene between ‘Hop along’ Paul Robinson and the lump of wood with hair gel from Oakey (which I resent because that’s where I come from… bastards). It was so bad, probably the worst acting I’d ever seen on TV..”
Why can’t the powers that be see that?
‘Ned’ would have to be the worst actor & character i’ve seen on Neighbours in the 7 years i’ve been watching it.
The show will be poorer without Nell and ‘Bree’.

I agree that the recast is a huge mistake. I’m glad they got rid of Scott and Dylan, but I liked the remaining Timminses. Particularly Janae and Bree. Although the writing for Bree’s character of late has been completely dumbed down, and I hate the fact that Janae is pursuing Ned *shudders*.
They should’ve booted him off ages ago, along with the *shudders* Kinkis.
