TEN’s Tuesdays: hit Repeat.

This is a photo of I Love Lucy, generally regarded as the most repeated show in television history. It’s also an hilarious episode with Lucy wreaking havoc on an assembly line. I thought of it when looking over TEN’s upcoming Tuesday programming.

Now that new episodes of Numb3rs have ended, TEN has an assembly line of repeat television as its mainstay prime time viewing. From 7pm – 10:30pm it is now wall to wall repeat TV: Futurama, The Simpsons (2 eps), NCIS and Numb3rs.

It’s not until we reach TEN Late News with Sports Tonight that we actually arrive at anything first-run since Neighbours at 6:30pm. It’s as if TEN has given up the Tuesday fight to Dancing with the Stars. Even Nine hasn’t completely relinquished that battle.

In fairness, TEN has a host of new shows on Wednesdays with brand new eps of House and Life (so new they have only aired in the US) and Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? On Mondays they will soon add new Supernatural.

But a whole night of repeats? It isn’t even summer yet, guys! What are we getting then? I Love Lucy?

Hmm…. on second thoughts, that isn’t such a bad idea.

  1. David, you were very close in predicting a repeat after 3 weeks, when they aired 4 then a big brother substitute. We’ll see if the rest of your simpsons predictions come true.

  2. I have plenty of I Love Lucy DVDS – have watched some with my kids. Magic Stuff!! Thanks for info re: Survivor (especially without any spoilers too). I am trying to make up my mind whether to download or wait. Part of me still wants to give Ch 9 support when they screen it – not that they deserve any such loyalty.

  3. Of course, but not until 2008.

And then after 3 new ones there will be 2 repeats, and then 2 more new ones, and then it will change nights, and then it will be rested, and then a few more new ones and then the whole thing starts again recycled onto another night and used as filler for failing shows. Fabulous!

  4. I would love to see I Love Lucy shown again – probably not a prime time show though.
Channel 31 had it on a number of years ago, and since then it has disappeared.
Maybe it is on Foxtel somewhere, but as I do not have a subscription I do not know.

Survivor China is great by the way, I have seen the first two episodes already and look forward to my new Friday night ritual.
Channel 9 would do well to add this in at 7:30, maybe on a Saturday, I am sure if they gave it another go, enough people would watch it.

  5. Nice reference to classic tv. Anyway repeats of Numbers and NCIS are still enjoyable and still more entertaining then a lot of rubbish on tv. Throw the CSI:Miami repeat in there as well. And miles more preferable then the oldies favorite DWTS! Oh and I certainly wouldn’t mind I Love Lucy!

  6. Maybe Channel 9 could let them borrow Survivor and ER to give us a good alternative Tuesday night’s viewing. I am watching Dancing with the Stars this season (only usually catch glimpses of it) because at least I know it’s not a repeat. I have given up on a lot of my old favourites NCIS, Numbers, CSI etc.
