Kid Nation to be replaced by….

Next week is the final episode of Kid Nation on TEN.

Airing at 7:30pm Friday nights it hasn’t exactly helped the network address a 2007 trend of lowly Fridays.

Last week the network barely cracked the 20% share, little more than 1 point ahead of the ABC.

So here’s a chance for TEN to fix its Fridays with some decent viewing.

Have a guess what’s coming…..

MORE REPEATS!

Meanwhile Friday Night Lights gets shoved to 11pm on TEN HD?

If you want to tell TEN to come to its senses, vent your anger here!

  1. Yeah I’m a huge fan of the Simpsons but seriously I’m glad they’re starting to stop showing them at 6pm. Sure it’s episodes of Friends replacing it but so what, Ten can’t win at the 6pm timeslot anyway. Ten really needs some new ideas, rather than be a completely biased network for a single reality TV show. Honestly, we’re sick of reality TV! Kid Nation was terrible, stupid attempt at reality TV. I don’t watch TV to see six year olds whinging over an arcade game or something. I don’t know what Friday Night Lights is, but if it’s new and enjoyable, stick it on.

  2. ENOUGH OF THE SIMPSONS! I do love the show, but after seeing some episodes 4+ times, it’s just irritating … how about showing Jerico, or some other show that is slotted in a late night out of the way time on HD – there’s many to choose from, and even if they’re repeated(just once) on HD then there’s a little more choice for us consumers … you want ratings, yet there’s just crap!

  3. Meh who cares. Rather endless Simpsons then endless MASH. Sure I’d love to see Monk but I’ve long since given up on TEN giving a rats about what we want. The exact same goes for Nine & Seven to a lesser extent.

  4. Can someone PLS explain to me why 10 have to put all it’s decent programming onto it’s HD channel and not show it on the SD one also, EVEN at late night???
I mean, is there any reason, any whatsoever that 10 can’t show Battlestar Galactica on the SD channel, say after Letterman? And as for other shows like Friday Night Lights(I may or may not of tuned into watch it- the choice of whether I want to watch it is not possible, rather I have decide whether to spend a couple of hundred bucks on a HD box), I mean why can’t 10 show it at 7:30 on a Friday night, and not screen for the upttenth time some Simpson repeat!!Why can’t you show The Office? That show has been treated so terribly by 10, it is not funny. I mean, why aren’t you showing it like you did last year on a sunday night at 11pm??? Oh no, It won’t rate, EVEN at 11pm on a sunday night for Farks sake!!

10, you are the worst FTA channel around(yes even worse than nine- who recently shafted viewers with Moonlight)!!

  5. This would have been a good opportunity for Ten to switch The Simpsons back to 6pm, bump Friends out into this timeslot for a few weeks, and then give Friends the long overdue shaft when BB starts up again.

  6. Simpsons remains one of my favourite shows of all time, but this isn’t what I view as inspired programming for a night that has been problematic long-term. Any wonder TEN is known as Channel Simpsons?

  7. Gee’s…sink the boot in Dave! Like any and all shows, there is an audience. I, like qwerty, miss one of my favourite shows. Even when it was on daily I usually wasn’t home in time. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed kid nation, and hate home improvement shows with a passion, so I’ll be relieved when light entertainment comes back to Fridays. The Simpsons is THE most successful animated series ever made. Sure, the 50+ yr olds will be tuning into Don Burke and his cronies thus “rating well”, but for some of us, Simpsons, repeated or not, is quality. Great Job Ten!

  8. I am a huge fan of kid nation and the simpsons too. Over the last 16 years i have become accustome to getting my simpsons fix daily on ten. But since friends replaced it i have had to wait till saturday and sunday nights to get my hits. So frankly im very glad that the simpsons will replace kid nation on fridays.

  9. When re-runs of The Simpsons were shown at 6pm, Ten couldn’t get it right the first time – skipping most of the episodes and even G-rated re-runs having scenes removed, whether they would have spooked children or not, to make way for more ads. If Ten couldn’t screen it properly, they shouldn’t have screened it at all.

If Ten tends to replace Kid Nation with an animated series, I would rather see them bring back Futurama. At least with Futurama, you won’t get bored with it.

  10. Guys, if Ten started airing FNL, The Officein a 7:30pm timeslot, you’d all be complaining about how much they’re editing out.

It’s too early a timeslot for many of these shows.

Instead, complain that Ten are spending on so little variation in locally produced content.

What Ten should be doing is producing family friendly content for the 7:30 timeslot if they’re so stuck for appropriate US content.

And folks, if you’re tired of having to wait for shows like FNL to be aired, downloads are always an option.

  11. Oh C’mon! I mean, The Simpsons rocks, but the network has been tossing with repeats for so many years. Then again, I’m glad that Kid Nation will end. For that timeslot, I’d expect something better, but no one mentioned The Simpsons repeats! How many times a week is it now and how many times some days?
    Get real Ten, Seriously.

  12. Ten wont listen, they know they have to fill the slot with something temporary for six or so weeks before Big Brother starts, and The Simpsons does that nicely.

If they had Lights on at 7.30 Fridays it’d be removed in April for Friday Night Live. But a lineup of Friday Night Live followed by Friday Night Lights would be good. Think of the advertising for that! 🙂

  13. I spose we should be glad they actually showed the whole season of Kid Nation and didn’t yank that off, but Simpsons repeats? surely there is plenty of other stuff to put in the timeslot 🙁

  14. Oh my. As much as I love the Simpsons, Ten need to stop being so lazy, and scared of losing the ratings. I hate Ten. With a great passion. Have you realised, that they HAVE the timeslots to fit in eps of One Tree Hill, Friday Night Lights, Smallville, The Office, Monk, Psych etc? Yet they always replace it with repeats. Fark you, Ten.

  15. Oh for hell’s sake, Ten… ENOUGH SIMPSONS ALREADY!

I love that Ten is running series that they probably otherwise wouldn’t show at all – Friday Night Lights, The Shield, Smallville, Veronica Mars, Journeyman etc – on their HD channel, as that gives that channel a real point and also lets these shows be seen. And let’s tell it like it is here – the investment required for anyone to access the HD channel is tiny, a cheapie set top box and you’re set. Much better than when Foxtel buys the rights to shows that you can’t see without a multi-thousand-dollar investment.

No, I have no problem with Friday Night Lights being on Ten HD. What I have a problem with is The Simpsons and its worn-out welcome. I’ve actually come to despise the show thanks to its endless, endless repeats on Ten. Seriously.
