Todd McKenney on drink driving charge

Dancing With the Stars judge and radio host Todd McKenney has been charged with drink-driving following a night out in Sydney on Friday.

news.com.au says McKenney was pulled over for a random breath test and allegedly blew over the legal limit.

McKenney, who had been driving on Macquarie St in the city at 10.50pm, was immediately arrested and then taken to Surry Hills police station for a further breath analysis.

He was escorted by officers to the station where he was re-tested and then allegedly found with a 0.05 alcohol reading.

McKenney, who currently hosts the 106.5FM breakfast radio show with DWTS’ Sonia Kruger, was charged with low-range drink driving and given a court attendance notice.

In April when he will go before a magistrate.

“I am bitterly disappointed in myself this has happened,” he said. “I can’t believe this has happened.”

Still, drink driving headlines haven’t thwarted many celebrity careers yet. Dancing with the Stars own Daryl Somers blew a reading of 0.098, but escaped conviction on the condition he donates $600 to charity, back in 2001. It was a startlingly light sentence. Even Seven’s own news boss was in a lot more hot water than McKenney and he’s still got the full backing of Kerry Stokes.

It sounds more like he regrets getting caught than putting peoples’ lives at risk by drinking and driving.
