Fugly and Logie votes closing soon

Voting for the 2008 Fugly Awards closes in just over 24 hours. You can still make your vote until 12am Friday May 2 here.

SportingBet tips the Worst Show between Gladiators, Monster House and Power of Ten (they also tipped Rhys to win SYTYCDA). But a reader poll asking the same question on TV Tonight tipped Monster House, The Mint and Gladiators. It will be interesting to see who knows TV better…

The Fuglies are still looking for mock acceptance speeches so get in fast if you want to write one on behalf of absent winners.

Fugly creator Anthony Dever also told TV Tonight he was sorry the ABC hadn’t swung behind its nominees. “I’m disappointed that the ABC hasn’t done a tasteless promo campaigning for their nominees in the ‘good’ categories for these awards,” he said. “Our voters have given Aunty’s shows a pat on the back for years. I’m questioning whether to invite ABC people to the ceremony.”

Meanwhile Logie voting is reportedly close with three candidates neck and neck (Ritchie? Hills? Lilley?). Sportingbet tips Ritchie followed by a three way tie between Lilley, McClune (their typo) and Blair. Rival gamblers SportsBet tips Ritchie, Blair and McCune. Gold Logie voting continues via SMS or online.

In other news, Hamish and Andy will return to host the Logies Green Room. Hopes that Westlife might sing an Aussie TV theme (well it was a long shot) have been dashed with word they will warble their song “Something Right.” US band The Last Goodnight will sing “Pictures of You.”

A few more names have also been added to the list: Dannii Minogue, Peter Helliar and Eva Orner, who won an Oscar for her documentary Taxi to the Dark Side, which screens next week on SBS.
