Mr Sour Grapes?

There’s a lot to be said for humility in television. Why? Because we keep hearing the same old stories about the same old people.

At yesterday’s BAFTA Awards in the UK, the winners of the best comedy performance James Corden and Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey) were starstruck by former Neighbours actor Alan Dale.

Corden said he was flattered just to be nominated and couldn’t believe he was in the same room as Alan Dale.

He said, “To be on a list was enough, let alone in a room with Jim Robinson (Dale’s character in the soap), who’s like amazing.”

His co-star Ruth Jones added that she was embarrassed after talking to Dale.

“I went up to him and said, “I really loved you in Neighbours”. He didn’t look very happy. I really regret that,” Jones said.

Sadly the words Alan Dale and Neighbours are never found in the same sentence with any measure of gratitude any more. It really puts you off enjoying his subsequent appearances in a string of US shows.

C’mon Jim. Lighten up?
