Is this really their night?

Iceland sent in true pop for Eurovision 2008 with “This is my Life” from Euroband. They’re one of my Top 5 for the big night. But I don’t fancy their chances of winning because they probably have such few allies.

Israel: Boaz “The Fire in Your Eyes.”

Romania: Nico & Vlad “Pe-o Margine de Lume”

Poland: Isis Gee “For Life”

Armenia: Sirusho “Qele Qele”

Of course this is without factoring in the final five entries from UK, Germany, Serbia, France and Spain (ahem!).

What are your faves? Please note no comments will be approved from Sunday morning to Sunday night.

  1. I am loving Eurovision weekend and big thank you to all making through to Eurovision final (sorry, not sure why I’ve come over all English as a second language.)

It’s like, Eurovision has been waiting all its life for the 80s to come along, and when it did, it never let go.

Thank you for the great post,
this is my little island of calm in a sea of spoilers.

  2. Congratulations to Russia on winning, it seems that Eurovision will be dominated by the Eastern Europeans for a long time now..

    1 Russia
    2 Ukraine
    3 Greece

  3. my favourite for the 2nd-semi was Ukraine, probably Netherlands for the 1st-semi. I haven’t heard any of the “big 4” + Serbia songs so don’t know what the successful finalists are up against. But I must say, SBS have done well not to butcher the semi-finals too much (although the interval act was missing from the 2nd-semi, don’t think we didn’t notice that, SBS!) and the commercial breaks being kept to a minimum. Hopefully they will keep the Final intact with no edits! (and i’ll be going into lockdown tomorrow, no TV, radio or internet so as not to spoil the result)

  4. Well yes Iceland was OK, But I think Sweden was the best of the night. I think they had a commercial sound which was very catchy. Some of the semi winners, I am at a loss to know how they made it. They must owe/be owed big time! I was disappointed the Czech republic did not get in, not just because I wanted to watch them again 🙂 but I really liked their sound as well.
