Respected Hollywood director Sydney Pollack has died, aged 73.
Pollack died of cancer at his home in Los Angeles today. He had been diagnosed with cancer about nine months ago.
A highly successful movie director and producer (Tootsie, Out of Africa, The Way We Were, The Electric Horsemen, They Shoot Horses Don’t They?) he often appeared in films, most famously as Dustin Hoffman’s agent in Tootsie.
Pollack directed many TV shows in the 1960s including Ben Casey, Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Fugitive and Bob Hope specials. He also appeared in episodes of Will and Grace, The Sopranos and Frasier.
He made his start in theatre studying under Sanford Meisner.
Pollack is survived by his wife Claire, two daughters Rebecca and Rachel, his brother Bernie and six grandchildren.

Very sad, a Great Director,Producer and Actor. Enjoyed all his work, whether it was behind the camera or in front of it.
Let’s not forget that he once played a foot fetishist in an episode of King of the Hill. 😀
