Bumped: Prison Break, Scrubs.

There's good news for Scrubs, but bad news for Prison Break fans.

Update: Prison Break now out. Scrubs stays at 11:30pm.

Seven is swapping the start times for Prison Break and Scrubs from Thursday November 6.

Scrubs will start at 10:30pm while Prison Break is pushed back to 11pm.

Last week Prison Break managed a lowly 389,000 viewers. Now in its fourth season the show is struggling to uphold its premise -so far there isn’t even a prison on the current series.

  1. I was worried but as it’s been said “at least it’s not axed”.

We used to have prison break disucssion at work the following day but it doesn’t happen anymore as one or two may stay up late and others tape to watch over the wekeend. By Monday it’s been too long…

  2. I got sick of waiting for Channel 7 and already downloaded this season of Scrubs, but if I hadn’t already watched it, I would be thrilled that the show has finally been given a better time slot.

  3. Its still not being promoted

so if you working 9-5 and have kids, you rely on the stations promotions to inform you whats on.

I still haven’t seen any promotion of scrubs or prison break.

At least they have left it on, but how about some promotion?

  4. @ apaz

networks very rarely advertise their 10:30 shows and they still manage more than 389k. and season 3 advertised for and still rated poorly which resulted in the show being pushed to 10:30. i doubt it would have made much of a diff.

Nathan pretty much summed up what i was thinking about the choice of timeslot: earlier timeslots don’t just appear.

  5. o c’mon guys don’t blame them for putting it on at 10:30 the only other choices they had were:

    – axe one of their prime time shows, all of which are doing well (exept maybe heroes) and replaced it with this, which undoubtfully would have rated worse, not to mention the complaints that they would get about the show they axed.
    OR
    – put it on in primetime in the summer even further away from the US airdates, by that time so many people would have downloaded it, it would probably end up at 10:30 anyway

fans are lucky it isn’t on at midnight on the HD channel or just not shown at all

  6. As knoxoverstreet said, what makes Seven think Scrubs will do better than 389,000?

And so what if there’s no Prison in Prison Break? They can’t change the name of the show, can they? They’re almost breaking into a prison, trying to steal these cards. It’s still a good show, killed by a crap timeslot. Not to mention the fact that it is geared to the younger demographics who by now have already downloaded it.

  7. That move is going to piss off a lot of Prison Break fans, but lets face it, if you were a fan of it you would have given up on channel seven long ago. I’m one of the viewers that drifted away by the god awful season 3. Atleast Scrubs will finally get a half decent timeslot.

  8. The problem, which has been highlighted here, is shows with a continuing storyline that are not Aussie made are suffering. Aussie shows are shown in prominant 8:30 or 9:30 slots consistantly week after week (with the occasional break or repeat), while the American series’ are left out in the cold.

People have less time these days to watch these types of shows, even though they are some of the best television around. I believe once networks are allowed to broadcast a second SD channel, we will hopefully let networks show them use them to their full advantage.

Have on the Analog Seven / Seven SD 1 all your aussie made dramas and factual shows and the occasional movie, while on Seven SD 2, give some permanant timeslots for all the U.S. serials that Seven owns the rights to, no matter how badly they rate. I would faint from surprisement if i see something like Prison Break on 8:30 Tuesdays (5 hour fast-track) and Lost at 8:30 Mondays (3 day, 5 hour fast-track). Now that would be great!

  9. No I don’t think that’s entirely why it’s rating low. It’s been one of my fave shows and I still tune in. But it’s had issues since S1 in sticking to its premise and I think its viewers have dropped over the years (and therefore a later slot) because of this. I’m surprised they haven’t done a series where the “prison break” is to break “in” rather than out…. I guess there were (some) elements of that in S3.

  10. You really think the low viewing numbers is because there’s no prison in the current series? How about, pushing the weeknight viewing time later and later till when 9 to 5-ers are most likely in bed?

Insert standard grumble about Aussie TV networks and TGF Torrents 😀

And for those people who constantly confuse Prison Break for The Wire, you might want to check out this article by Stephen King on why PB is one of his favourite shows. ie. Leave your brain at the door, people! http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20230819,00.html

  11. yeah at least it’s not axed, this will actually make it a bit easier with my pvr instead of manually dividing the two shows i can set it up so it is automatic now without worrying about missing anything. what i’d like to see is season 1 repeated during the day or late at night on HD, it’s been a while since i’ve seen the first one. they do it with desparate housewives, lost and alias, why not prison break?

  12. It may not be set in a prison, but the continuing attempt to stay out of prison is there. 10:30pm was a awful time slot anyway, now they have made it worse.
It will finish up here in December for non-ratings, then I bet it wont be around for a long time next year.

  13. I was thinking……..why don’t I watch live commercial TV anymore?

Think of this season as breaking into a metaphorical prison – the company headquarters. The writers have really upped the tension this season that’s for sure.
