Returning: Gossip Girl

Pay television's most popular drama returns in December.

Pay TV’s ever-popular teen drama, Gossip Girl returns to screen next month.

It’s back on FOX8 at 8:30pm Tuesday December 9th.

Season two of the Josh Schwartz series aired in the US on September 1st. Following 18 episodes of Series one due to the writer’s strike, there are 24 in this season.

Press Release:

The smash hit of last summer, GOSSIP GIRL, returns to FOX8 for another season packed full of new secrets and hidden agendas on Tuesday, December 9 at 8.30pm. And as the highly anticipated second series unfolds, nothing is what it seems!

Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) seems to be grappling with the loss of her true love Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) by spending time in the arms of old flame Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). Though Serena and Nate may have spent much of the summer together, their rekindled spark may be hiding a much more salacious relationship between Nate and an older woman.

Meanwhile, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) is licking her wounds and plotting her revenge on Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), who stood her up for what should have been a summer of romance. However, one man’s loss is another man’s gain: in this case, a mystery man who could outmatch even the mighty Bass in the battle for Blair’s heart. Backstabbing seems to be the order of the day, but are B and C simply hiding a true love too risky to face? Time will tell.

Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) seems more determined than ever to ensure her future in fashion. As she toils away as an intern for nemesis Blair Waldorf’s mother, Eleanor (guest star Margaret Colin), Little J had better watch out. Her gritty determination could end up turning her dreams of high fashion into a nightmare.

Smoothing out the wrinkles in Dan’s lovelorn past and Jenny’s fashionable future will require the steady hand of their father Rufus (Matthew Settle), whose own dreams of “what might have been” are reinvigorated after spending a summer on tour with his band. While Rufus has been away, Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) has been busy minding the gallery. When Nate seeks out her friendship and things turns romantic, she finds herself in an unexpected triangle that will test her affection and allegiance.

Few people know the hard choices between love and sacrifice better than Lily Bass (Kelly Rutherford), who has returned happier than ever after a romantic globe-trotting summer with new hubby Bart (guest star Robert John Burke). But life as Mrs. Bass may not be the storybook she’s presenting to her family.

With past, present and futures colliding, we’ll need our resident super sleuth Gossip Girl more than ever to dish the dirt and navigate us through the shifting friendships, mounting jealousies and hidden secrets of our favourite Upper East Siders.

Filmed in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, GOSSIP GIRL was developed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (creators behind the hit drama The O.C.). In the US the second series has increased its audience by a massive 45 per cent from the first season.

  6. does anyone know the name of the song at the beginning of the ad for season two where the camera like goes over the city?? i cant seem to find it anywhere!!!
ps. ive seen a few episodes of season two and at first it took me a while to enjoy it unlike first season, it just seemed to draggg on, but it’s getting better =]

  7. Id just like to say, that there was a big break for Gossip Girl, n then when it finally came back, there was only four episodes and then the season ended!!! Does anyone find that bulls**t? I say its about bloody time Gossip Girl airs back on December 9 because after the four episodes, there was a damn long break. So I am just asking, if there is 25 episodes in season 2, are they going to play it consecutively every Tuesday? Or are they gonna play four episodes and go on another 3 month break and then play another four? If anyone knows this information, please tell me in a reply on the screen. Sorry for coming across so rudely, but I was really annoyed.

  8. does anyone know the song that was playing during the commercial for season two coming to fox8? the ad has serena and dan on like a bus and then they go to the bathroom to make out or something but i cant find the song!

  9. I was a bit skeptical about GG when it first started off, but it’s become a big guilty watch for myself….so much to love about this series!
The OC was very different to GG, and it clearly shows – both exceed in their own ways
As for Nine screening it, well those most desperate to see it have already downloaded it or seen it in Fox8 in the first place

  10. RichoTB, how many episodes of Gossip Girl have you seen?
I like both The O.C. and Gossip Girl, but they are both completely different shows. The only similarities are that they are from Josh Schwartz, and are both teen dramas.
I’m up to date with the states, but I really hope Nine air it over Summer as I want a few friends to check the show out.

  11. Season 2 is fantastic. Better than Season 1. Well the last couple of episodes (not counting this weeks which i’ll have to watch tomorrow) have been brilliant. And its only bound to get better.

I love this show, and have every intent on watching it again on foxtel OC 🙂

  12. Gossip Girl Season 1 has already been classified by the OFLC, however, a release date is currently unavailable. I have a feeling that it won’t be released until Nine are done airing it.

  13. I really enjoyed Gossip Girl and look forward to season 2 and coincidentally the start date December 9 is actually my birthday.

What a very good birthday present.

  14. I read that a few weeks back David, I guess 9 is not saying “Coming Soon” ’cause it may never come unlike the promos for Primeval which they have been playing for months!

I was wondering about the DVDs as well, is ch9 the hold up or is it an issue with the music rights like has happened for other shows?

I’m keeping up with the US and while I’m not all in to the bitchiness most of the time it’s a load better than most of the stuff out there and I’m not in the key demo they are targeting.
