Camp Biggest Loser

Built in 1938, the School of Artillery at North Head Sanctuary will become known as "Camp Biggest Loser."

Sydney’s North Head Sanctuary is the new home of The Biggest Loser for 2009.

The show was forced to find a new base after complaints to a local council ruled out access to The White House which had been its home for three series.

Built in 1938, the School of Artillery at North Head will become known as “Camp Biggest Loser” on a 385 ha property. Producers say the cliffs that rise up to 90 metres above the sea, and the art deco exterior buildings of the site will help make the new location part of the identity of the 2009 season.

The North Head Sanctuary site will be transformed into three gyms, a weigh in room and the elimination room.

This year the show kicks off at Hunt Resort on Fitzroy Island, Queensland. Contestants are put through gruelling training sessions before a picturesque tropical backdrop.

A new twist in the show will see the introduction of two bracelets, one worth “Double” another worth “Nothing.” The bracelets can be given by eliminated contestants to remaining players, which means they will be in play for the final weigh-in.

The Biggest Loser hosted again by Ajay Rochester returns 6:30pm Sunday February 1st on TEN.

  1. i love this show and look forward each year to it’s return but come on guys what’s happened to the accommodation

what a painted up dump in comparison to the beautiful white house, the kitchen is great which is what you might expect from an old army type building ,the paintwork is badly prepared, have you looked at those window frames really daggy the porch ceiling looks as if it has damp mould, the bedrooms look like over sized childrens rooms if nothing else give them somewhere nice to be whist they struggle to lose weight , there is nothing like a big downer when your working hard to achive, i would have thought that for tv presentation alone they would have not wanted the viewers to see where the contestants are living,

  2. Roll on TBL with no BB I am looking forward to TBL more than ever I hope it rates through the roof

As for twists as much as I love TBL I think that they should cut down on the twists I think that a weight penalty is lousy just because the contestant had been unfortunate enough to come last

  3. I am really looking forward to TBL again this year. I agree that all the twists last year really take away from the wight loss aspect of the show. I hate “the walk” and want it to be about rewarding those who do well in their weight loss and penalising those who don’t – not all this luck because of which stone you turn over etc. Also hated that the different teams were given different diets last year based on challenge outcomes. it should be about teaching the right food groups etc for a healthy life style.

Anyway, the new location will add a bit of spice to the show – as will the couples factor. I guess their combined weight loss for the week will decide if they are below the yellow line, and if one goes home so will the other. This will make the tension between partners pretty high at times.

Is the commdando coming back? I will miss Bob & Jillian’s impact on the show.

  4. Shannan and Michelle are better than Bob & Jillian anyway. Twists are part and parcel of any returning series…otherwise it’s exactly the same regardless of the genre….that’s why House is struggling…same formula….with the exception of that double ep season finale….that was brilliant

  5. I normally really enjoy the Biggest Loser; however, I am getting sick and tired of all the bulldust with the ‘walk’ and vote someone out right now and this is a trick and that is a trick – can’t the contestants just compete in weigh-ins and challenges!!

Must be hard to keep focused on the task at hand when people are messing with you all the time. (I guess that is the point, but without paid voting for this show I don’t really see the point)

@ gerrard, saw a news article that said Bob & Jillian wouldn’t be back this year and apparently Shannon & Michelle are extremely happy about this.

  6. Wouldn’t it have made sense to call it “The Biggest Loser Camp”, not “Camp Biggest Loser.” It just flows better with the word Camp on the end.

Either or, I will definitely be watching it. Does anyone know what the teams will be? Will there be a red and blue team, or will each couple be competing for themselves.

It would have been more interesting if one member from a couple was on the red team, while the other partner was on the blue team. This way a person will be competing against their partner.

Does anyone know if Bob and Jillian will be back as a suprise to the contestants? I really hope they do.

  7. I’m really looking forward to The Biggest Loser again. After it finishes, I dread waiting another year but it just comes so fast.

It’s going to be strange seeing a different location but I’m looking forward to it. It looks great.
