Ooops not quite a Golden Globe winner

Did the Golden Globes leak a winner? Anne Hathaway is hoping so. We'll know by tomorrow.

The official website for the Golden Globes, which takes place on Monday (Aus time) made an error in indicating actress Anne Hathaway had won the Best Actress award.

The error was later rectified and a statement was later posted:

“In the process of preparing for Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, a technician working on the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s website made a mistake and a name of a nominee was randomly marked as a winner. The mistake was immediately corrected.

“The ballots are tabulated by the accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP. Only four executives of the accounting firm know the identity of the winners before the envelopes are opened and recipients are announced during the live telecast. No one else, including the members of the HFPA, knows who the winners are prior to the live announcement.”

Betting agencies are said to have withdrawn the category from wagers, fearing the error was a giveaway of what’s to come.

Meanwhile, more presenter names were added in the last week including Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto (Heroes) both starring in the upcoming Star Trek movie.

Also added are Sean Combs, Johnny Depp, David Duchovny, Megan Fox, Eva Longoria, Sting and Mark Wahlberg. Glenn Close, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ricky Gervais are set to host.

In Australia the Golden Globes will only air on the Arena Channel, live from 12pm Monday with a replay in the evening. Sorry, there is no free to air telecast this year.

TV Tonight will be bringing you the television winners as they are announced. As the event is live in Oz there will be no spoiler warnings.

  2. This is the second year in a row that the Golden Globes has not been telecast on free to air. It always has been every other year so why not now???? It is a disgrace!!! Theres a load of rubbish on channels on Monday night why not have the Golden Globes??? its a lot more entertaining !!!! mother f****rs

  3. What a stuff up but I hope Anne wins.

    And no FTA, so much for FreeView and have all the Best TV when one of the top award shows will not have any access for the majority of viewers.
